L. Hutchinson, 1st ward, E. A. Hughes, 2nd ward, W. 0.

Gilmore, Urd ward, and R. V. Saunders, 4th ward, met last night for the iirst time in regular session since they took olfice, and transacted a large volume of business. The first matter to come up was from the street committee regarding the streets of the city, and after discussion and a report on the matter the council decided that beginning in April work will be started on the building of the streets, crowning them with high centeis and ditching on the side, in the same manner that Allen street was built several years ago. The work will be started at Tenth and Fremont, building down to First street if possible.

After this is completed, starting at the corner of Fourth and Allen to complete the work to the railroad track. This is the main tra elled street and is the course of the Borderland lioiite through the city. It is figured that this work will about exhaust this year's street money, and will be completed just about the time this year's tax money begins to come in so that the work may be continued until all the main streets'are built in the same manner. The council has obtained competent engineering advice, and figured the cost of each block, which will be let out on contract, using machinery on the work which will greatly lessen the cost. Dummy policemen are to be installed at the corner of Filth and Fremont.

Fifth and Allen, and Fourth and Allen stieets, and the city will back up City Marshal George Bravin the" enforcement of the ordinance. This will be done as soon as possible. Another stieet light will also be installed at the corner of Fifth and Fremont. Another matter disposed of was that of codifying all the city ordinances which have been passed in the city since it's existence, and publishing them in pamphlet form order that the people may be made familiar with the laws governing the city. JJoutine niatteis also occupied the council's attention, while other city improvements contemplated were discussed, making the session a long one.

The council has announced that they intend to put the city on a business basis and enforce every ordinance on the books, and several oidinances governing certain departments will be passed if it is seen they are needed to make the council's power complete, so that there will be no hitch in the administration of citv affairs.
