Made music on the plain Hurrah for the fearless rider And his lassos stinging whir When the bisons measured tread beat time To the rattle of the spur 0 for the sound of voices Where everything now is still When the cowboys deep and resonant shout Re echoed from the hill Hurrah for the boundless prairie How its waving grasses stir The heart with its thrilling memories Of the rattle of the spur 0 for the Indian fighter And the wars he used to wage When he wrote his name with the point of his sword At the top of Historys page Hurrah for the frontier hero And the dangers hed incur For he charged to Heavens pearly gates To the rattle of the spur 0 for the gallant Custer And his brave three hundred mn When they fought the painted red skins In the Bie Horn River cdpn In the red front of the battle Mot a soul did them But they fought them till Deaths rattle Checked the rattle of the spur Then all hail the fearless rider Pioneer on Western plain He smoothed the way for a surging wave And it followed on amain How our pulses thrill as our memories To those daring deeds recur For the great wild West has been redeemed By the men who wore the spur The above was written hv Will iam Dallas
