M. B. Barrett a prominent young man of the county was in from his ranch on Friday. 1 Probate Judge, Alfred Ruiz I' made a flying trip to Conch), the Uj last of last week. I Mrs. Hyrum Jones has been quite ill for the past few days, Y' bat is reported 'to be on the improve. I Mrs. Win. Harris has been very ill for the past week or so.

It is to be hoped that she will soon be 'well again. Mr. and Mrs- M. H. Peterson have been on the sick list for the past week or ten days, but they are now on the improve.

Dist. Atty, Isaac Barth left for Phoenix today. In his absence Andrew S. Gibbons of St. Johns will have charge of his office as District Attorney.

Supervisors Fred Colter and Joseph Udall are in the city attending a special meeting of the Board of Supervisors. Mr. Colter has just returned from a trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas. TEA We sell tons of, poor stuff; but our name isn't on it. Go by the name.

Martin, Forest Sup-pervisor, arrived in Springerville last week and has established his headauarters there. The vegetarians had better health, better complexions, more skill, more strength and more endurance. Their vegetable diet was supplemented, however, by three animal foods milk, butter and eggs.

A New Anesthetic, The latest discovery in the medical world is that sulphate of magnesia, commontv known as Epsons Salts, is an anesthetic Of its ue, Dr. Metzler, the discoverer, Says: "The public should not miscon ceive the use ol sulphate of magnesias an anesthetic. It will supplant neither ether nor chloroform in surgery, although it Can be used without the dangers that attend these two agents, especially for persons haying weak hearts. "Ether is likely in some cases to produce pneumonia-Chloroform sometimes produces fatty degeneration of the heart. Sulphate of magnesia does not affect the heart, but has been objected to because it restricted respiration.
