WARREN, PA. WARREN COUNTY OBSERVER. SATURDAY, JANUARY 13, 1962PAGE THIRTY-ONE Miss Phoebe L. Finley Miss Phoebe L. Finley, 77 of 14 Schantz died at 8:20 p.m.

Friday, Jan. 12, 1962 in the Keystone Nursing Home, after a long illness. Miss Finley was bom Jan. 8, 1885 in McKeesport, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Samuel F. Finley. She attended McKeesport High School, Business College, Pennsylvania State University and was graduated from Allegheny College. She taught school in Warren County for 43 years. She was first at Glade Run High School until it was taken into the borough and later a teacher in Warren High School where she served as head of the history department and dean of girls.

She was a member of Grace Methodist Church, a former president of its Epworth League, former superintendent of its Sunday School, former teacher of the Goodwill Gleaners Sunday School class and a member of the official board. She was also a charter member of the Ctllege Club. Survivors include a sister Hazel Finley of Warren; a brother Thomas W. Finley of Elmira, N.Y.; a niece and three nephews. A brother Paul K.

Finley of Harlingen, Texas preceded her in death in 1958. Arrangements will be announced by the Templeton Funeral Home. Mrs. John W. Morgan Laura G.

Wertz Morgan, 22 Davis Youngsville, died at Warren General Hospital Thursday afternoon at 2:30, following a short illness. She was bom atMayburg, on March 10, 1936. Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband, John W. Morgan, three children, Judy, Johnny and Bradley, all at home; her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Charles Wertz of Youngsville; two brothers, Ronnie and Raymond of Youngsville. She was a member of St. Lukes Catholic Church in Youngsville. A Requiem Mass will be said for her Monday morning in St.

Lukes by the Rev. Charles Hurley, pastor. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.

and from 7 to 9 p.m. and the same hours on Sunday at the Young Funeral Home, where the Parish Rosary will be said tomorrow night at 8 Walter C. Shaw Walter C. Shaw of McKeesport, civic leader and co-founder and chairman of the board of the G.C. Murphy Company Variety Store chain, died early Wednesday morning in St.

Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida. Mr. Shaw, who was 81 on January 1, had been in ill health for several months. He had gone to Florida in October, and was confined to the hospital on December 23.

He vvas born in 1881, a son of Lydia Ann and Joseph A. Shaw, in Stewarts town, Penna. Me is survived by a brother, Newton C. Shaw of Stewartstown, two sisters, Mrs. Mae Sample of Elizabeth City, N.C.; and Mrs.

Lou Tarbert of Red Lion, a son, Walter C. Shaw of Mt. Lebanon, and two daughters, Louis Shaw YanKirk of McKeesport, and Betty Shaw Gamble of Pleasant Hills, also eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Una Virginia Shaw, in 1954. Friends are being received at the family home, 1501 Library McKeesport, today and tomorrow.

Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Church of McKeesport Monday afternoon at 1:30. Burial will be in McKeesport. Carl D. Anderson Services for Carl D. Anderson of Warren, Ohio, were conducted by the Rev.

Carl E. R. Nelson. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Leo W.

Schulman, James Madden, Franklin Allen Vilson, Charles Padcrett. Harvey Peters Harvey Peters, 82, of Mt. State Sales Tax Returns Due Monday One Killed, 11 Injured in Blast TUSCOLA, 111. explosion roared through a chemical plant here yesterday, killing one person and injuring 11 others. Dead was Dave Laley, Tuscola.

He died of severe burns, a spokesman for the United States Industrial Chemical Corp. said. Six of those injured -vere treated and released from the Jarman Hospital. Five were hospitalized with cuts, bruises and shock. Cause of the blast was not given.

No damage estimate was immediately available. Company officials said no detailed information about the blast would be released until today. Reporters and photographers who rused to the scene were not allowed in the immediate area of the explosion. The spokesman said the action was taken for security measures.
