Amissive from event publicists tells us that Smith was born in San Diego but has spent most of his life in St. Louis. He started singing at age 7 in church. In 1996, he joined the singing group Team 11, which performed cover tunes at promotional events.

In 2003, Smith moved to L.A. with Team 11 to pursue music, but moved back the same year, after the group disbanded. He has performed at several St. Louis jazz and blues clubs. Although left charms are lauded on the Web forum section by ardent fans with on-screen monikers like Smith spoke to us by phone as the show prepared to roll south.

been through a lot lately. How are you holding up? been a little crazy. I had ablast doing Anytime you get to do something you love so much, perform in front of millions of people, a plus. I have no regrets. What was it like to get voted off, then brought back? Ihad just come back Saturday morning at 2:30 they called me.

I thought itwas a joke at first. I got kind of upset. They were serious. I was more than happy to come back. Who did you get to be friends with? Everyone was super cool.

I really got close to Bo (Bice). been my buddy since the Hollywood round. been mypal ever since. Were you surprised that Nadia Turner and Anwar Robinson were voted off? hard to be surprised. such a fickle thing.

You never know going to be inthe bottom three, going home. I just felt really blessed to be able to do it in the first place. You get to go on stage and do what you love doing. I just had fun with it. How did your dad (baseball great Ozzie Smith) prepare you for fame and the pressure of being in the public eye? Hetold me just to stay focused, enjoy it while in front of me.

not always going to be there. Do what I love doing. I took that advice. working pretty well. next for you? Hopefully, going to be recording music, working on an album.

I regret I really get to show my versatility (on the show). I was sort ofthe person. I love but I want to show the rock side. On my album, going to show a little bit of everything. When you come to the Mall of Georgia and judge the audience singing contest, are you going to pull a Simon and tell people how ghastly they are? a little too extreme.

going to have fun with it. no need to bash anyone. NIKKO SMITH, former finalist No regrets about his experience Fox TV Nikko Smith of baseball legend Ozzie Smith, was voted off of brought back, then voted off again. Surely Greene be bothered if his old friend Ryan Wood revealed the one sport Greene cannot do gracefully: ice skate. even stand up; do a Wood said.

Or how about his special skill? could really do the said mother, Cindy Wood, who has photos from a Hawaii trip to prove it. TheWoods, the Millers and everyone else who was asked described both Greene and Pollack as and yet, apparently, neither one seemed to mind dressing up like a girl. Not to worry, mind you. Pollack and Greene have both been swamped these days with pre-draft interviews, workouts, charity events, and bless their hearts last Tuesday, playing Augusta National. In addition to pondering where they might be playing and living next year, Pollack is afew weeks away from getting married, and Greene is about to become an uncle.

With any luck, both of them will be too busy to notice all the dirt we dug up tocelebrate this momentous occasion. Continued from J1 The Davids: always be ours Even when they were in middle school, it was easy to tell who was the manic one David Pollack on the left) and who was the quieter one David Greene on the right)..
