She lived most of her life in Hapeville, Georgia and taught school in the Fulton County School System for 41 years. She was a founding member of the Hapeville Historical Society and was named Woman of the Year in Hapeville in 1967. Miss Wells was the first Georgia Public School Teacher to receive the Gold Key Award in Journalism from Columbia University for her work with the school newspaper and annual of Hapeville High School. One of her former students wrote when she was nominated for the Hall of Fame, kicked me in the seat of knowledge and made me want to Miss Wells is survived by 4 generations of nieces and nephews and by countless former students. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 2:00 p.m.

RATH Stephen J. Rath, 49, of Marietta, passed away Thursday morning, October 10, following a brief illness. Stephen was born in Mansfield, Ohio on January 5, 1953 to Carl Eileen Daley Rath. A colorful Father in-law to Linda Chancey Murray and Hy Shapiro. Born in Boston, among his honors, Lt. Commander Murray received the Distinguished Flying Cross as a naval aviator in World War II. He went on as an Engineer to oversee the safety programs of the Washington Metro construction for Bechtel and the Atlanta MARTA construction for Parsons Brinkerhoff Tudor. somewhat paradoxical combination of the gentle art of writing poetry, versus the rougher art of he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Robert Baron Morris, 55, of McDonough, died October 11, 2002. Mr. Morris was born January 17, 1947 in Atlanta, the son of the late Clara Belle Gulley and Gerald Headspeth Morris. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and worked as a quality control inspector for Delta Air Lines. 404-758-1731. JOHNSON 009911688 BETTI TITTLE JOHNSON Served as an Atlanta social worker for more than 50 years. Wife of Inslee M. Johnson (deceased 6-23-96), Mrs. Johnson died Saturday, October 12 at Hospice Atlanta, following a fall.

Born in Springfield Ohio, she began her life of service in the American Red Cross during World War II. Her more than 50 year career in social work spanned service in child adoption, the Atlanta Housing Authority helping the disabled, and at the Northside Shepherd Center from which she retired at age 72. There she served more than 15 years, helping the elderly remain in their own homes. Mrs. Johnson was a founding member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where she continued to work as a Trinity volunteer after her retirement.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer A. Johnson, and daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Johnson Shewanown and Saun Shewanown. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Trinity Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loyce Hoyle Hearn; daughter, Sandra and her husband, Kenneth Cates, Jefferson; step daughter, Brenda and her husband, Marvin M. Harris Commerce; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two nephews.

A native of Norwood, Mr. Hearn was preceded in death by his parents, Callie Jones and Thomas Ben Hearn; brothers, Herman Lamar Hearn and Abner M. Hearn; and a sister, Arvella Herndon. Mr. Hearn was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Braselton.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the aircraft carrier USS Shamrock Bay in the Pacific Theater. He was a 41 year member of the American Legion Post 66 in Avondale Estates. Mr. Hearn maintained 43 years of seniority with Southern Railway (Norfolk Southern) and retired in 1986 as Assistant to the President of Railroad Carmen of the U.S.

and Canada, now the Transportation Communications International Union, of which he was a member for 56 years. After retirement, he served for several years as arbitrator on the National Railroad Adjustment Board in Washington D.C. The funeral will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, October 15, 2002 in the Eternal Hills Chapel, with Rev. Mike Phillips officiating and burial will follow in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens. The family will visit with friends 4-8 Monday evening at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, Snellville.

of Clarkesville, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia. He was born May 25, 1916 in White Nacoochee area, to Lamar and Nelle Landrum Ferguson. At the age of 9 the Ferguson family, including eight children, moved to Decatur, where John attended public school and Oglethorpe University. His early work career included Consolidated Stone Quarries, the Pullman Car and Bell Aircraft Co. After WWII, Mr.

Ferguson, founded Angus-Stewart Co. in 1946, a woodworking manufacturing firm, and was still connected with the firm until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Ferguson was a past President of the Sandy Springs Civic League and Brookhaven Kiwanis Club. Mr.

Ferguson was a life long Presbyterian, and a founding member of Moutn Vernon Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs in 1954. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE (TODAY) Sunday, October 13, 2002 at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarkesville, where he was currently a member. Rev.
