Gean was born in Isley, Alabama in 1920 and lived for many years in North Augusta, South Carolina. Claire D. Howard of Roswell, GA died Sunday evening at St. Joseph's Hospital after a brief illness. For 53 years, she was the wife of Richard A. Howard.

She was born July 3, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut. She was dearly loved by her family and friends who were blessed by her creativity, humor and her quiet faith in God. Hundreds of children were given a strong foundation in life by her dedication to the teaching profession. Claire was a graduate of New Haven State Teachers College and taught in the New Haven school system before leaving to raise her family. Years later, she returned to her profession as a teacher at Hanmer Elementary School in Wethersfield, CT.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen Doughan and her son Richard. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Susan Howard of Houston, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law Kate and David Fitzgerald of Marietta, GA; a son and daughter-in-law John and Med Howard of River Forest, IL; and three beloved grandsons, Christopher and Conor Howard and Ryan Fitzgerald. A Funeral Mass and burial will take place in Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franciscan Mission Associates, P.O. Dr. Gude, a fourth generation Atlantan, was born in 1922 to Albert Valdemar Gude Sr. and Helen O'Brien Gude. Dr. Gude graduated from The Marist School and Emory University.

He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1946, where he was a member of Phi Chi Fraternity. After internship, he served as a Naval Medical Officer, Severn River Naval Command at Annapolis, MD. Following his residency at Emory University Hospital, he entered the private practice of anesthesia at Piedmont Hospital.

He was Co-Director of the Anesthesia Service 1954 to 1976 and Chief Anesthesiologist 1976 to 1983. He belonged to the American Board of Anesthesiology and the Piedmont Hospital Clinical Society where he served as President in 1968. Dr. Gude was a member of The Cathedral of Christ the King, The Buckhead Boys, Burge Plantation and a life member of The Piedmont Driving Club. He enjoyed raising and showing Welsh Corgis and German Shepherds.

After retiring from medicine in 1983, Dr. Gude and his wife Donna moved to Big Canoe, Georgia. Dr. Gude was a Charter Secretary of the Jasper Rotary Club in 1989 and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as Chairman of the Health Care Committee, served on the Board of Directors of the Big Canoe Homeowners Association where he served as President from 1992 to 1993.

He was a volunteer driver for the Meals On Wheels program in Pickens County. of Atlanta, died Sunday, January 01 2006. He was 88. Phil Richards was born February 8, 1917 in his family home on Spring Street. Mr. Richards attended Boys High and was chosen for Coach Shorty Doyle's All Star football team.

He received a scholarship to the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he was a Phi Kappa Phi and Honors graduate. A premier offensive and defensive guard, he played in Tech's winning 1940 Orange Bowl game. Mr. Richards served in World War II as a Captain in the Army's 705th Coast Artillery Anti-aircraft Battery. After the war, Mr.

Richards founded ABCO Builders, one of Atlanta's oldest construction companies, and served as President of the Georgia Branch of the Associated General Contractors of America. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, a Mason, a former member of Druid Hills Baptist Church, a founding member and deacon at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, an armchair historian and genealogist, and a world traveler. Mr. Richards is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gertrude Spratt Richards; his sister, Lucy Richards Perkerson; his sister-in-law, Irmeth Coleman Richards, wife of his brother, the late William L. Gordon was a loving and cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gordon came to know the Lord at an early age. He married the love of his life, Sybil Ogletree, in 1939. They had three children, Patsy, Madrene and David. Gordon was a Marine who served in WWII and was a Purple Heart recipient.

Gordon entered the military in 1943 and was injured in battle in Okinawa. He returned from service in 1945 after serving proudly and honorably. Gordon always said he was proud to be an American and proud to serve his country when they needed him. Soon after his return from the war, he joined the Ivan Allen team as a junior sales executive. He worked with Ivan Allen for forty years, rose to be a top sales executive, served in many civic organizations, and was highly respected in his field.

He had a grand retirement ceremony honoring him and his impeccable service given by Ivan Allen at the Capital City Club in Atlanta in 1983. Gordon's wife, Sybil Sharpton, preceded him in death in 1990, after forty-nine years of marriage. Gordon was blessed to meet and marry Elizabeth Joiner and was fortunate to spend another fourteen years married to her. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth (Lib) Sharpton, his children, Patsy Reid, Madrene Coffey and David Sharpton, his brother, Felix Sharpton, his grandchildren, Travis Reid, Tina Sheridan, Julie Sullivan, and Jerry Coffey, and seven greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, at 11am at Roswell Funeral Home Chapel.
