Wo have received from Sacramento, a few days ago, a copy of joint resolutions introduced in the California Legislature on the 7th instant, by Senator McCoy, of San Diego, and which was referred to the Committee on Federal Relations, regarding our troubles with the Apache Indians.

Our limited space will not permit us to publish the preamble to those resolutions, which is a long list of wrongs suffered by the inhabitants of and, travelers through our Territory at the hands of the savages. The resolutions, however, speak for themselves. They axe 1 That it is the duty of the Government of the United States to give the most prompt and efficient protection to the people of Arizona against the Apache Indians; that all attempts to treat with or otherwise to appease them, untii they are made to feel the power of the Government, will prove futile in the future, as they have in the past, and must result only in encouraging these savages to continued deeds of Carnage. 2 That in wav can this nro- ptection be so promptly and effi ciently extended to our suffering brethren in Arizona as l)y furnishing General Crook with ample means, and by giving him the largest discretion in the course to be pursued toward the savages. 3 That the President of the United States be and he is hereby urged and implored to prevent further interference with the military operations of General Crook, otherwise than by aiding his designs, until these savages are subdued, and the people of Arizona are made secure in their lies, homes and property.

4 That his Excellency, the Governor of this State, be requested to telegraph these resolutions.and the preample to the same, to the President of the United States: that he cause to be sent copies of tne same to eacn ol the Senators and in Congress of the Pacific States and Territories, and to each of the Governors of the same; and that our Senators in Congress bo instructed and Representatives requested to urKc upon (he Government at Washington such action in the premises as is indicated by these resolutions. Let us hope the committee have reported favorably, and that ere this these timely resolutions have been unanimously adopted and telegraphed to Washington. The cold is so treat in Italy this winter that there has been skai- ing in Florence and Naples, forj the first time in many years. Territorial Items. Tucson was visited, during the past week, with just a few drops of rain.

Two grand concerts, given by the Fifth Cavalry Band. at Tucson, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, were largely attended. The receipts were $372 20. The public school at Tucson was opened on the 4th instant, with John Spring as teacher. On the opening day, nearly forty children were present; and up to the 14th, the number had increased to 72.

The Citizen contains a condensation from two correspondents, regarding the killing of two Mexicans at the camp of the Caverness brothers, about sixty miles below Phoenix, which is as follows: It seems the Indians attacked Martinez ranch, near Camp Date Creek, on Feb. 21; that in a fight, two Indians were killed and left dead on the ground; that soon after, a party of Mexicans came along and murdered Mr. Culluna-bef and Mr. Harris, stole their horses, and made for Salt river with all speed; that Feb. 29, a true Indian ally Juan Jose promptly advised the Sheriff and others of Maricopa county that the men with the stolen horses were on the river; that SheriffWarden, assisted by others, at once went on the trail, and on the fifth day of unremitting search, the mufderers were found at the camp aforesaid, and in volleys of shooting by both sides.the two assassins and thieves were killed and the two horses recovered.

That the men killed were guilty as stated, there seems1 to be no doubt. PROFESSIONAL. Overthrow of the Erie Ring. By telegraph, we learn that the overthrew of the Erie ring is ae complished, and that the fact is received everywhere with satisfaction. The pr.ess, generally, re gard the result as a great triumph in the interest of honesty and re form; Jay Gould having resigned as President.

Ramsey, the ex- President of the Susquehanna road, says that the amount of the earnings of ihe road that Gould has not accounted for to the stockholders, is enormous. The friends of Fisk rejoice over Gould's down fall. General Von Roon, German Minister of War, on the lstinst. ceased to exercise the functions of head of the Navy Department. Lieutenant-General'' Stosen succeeded him.
