Donnelly and daughter Mary and Grandpa Anderson are staying at Mrs. Moehl-man's place while" she is away. Several of the patrons in the district have been busy the past few Grandpa has been pretty sick but la better at present, 'ays cleaning and remodeling th' schoolhouse. ST. GEORGE Sept 6 Howard Ettienne ana family spent Sunday with the John Ccx family near Wamego. Fletcher Wilson who has been bedfast since his injury nearly a year ago is suffering from an infection Iti his injured leg. Verna Garey is working this week at the central office, account of Goldie Henn going to live with her jhcther at Wichita. Glive Harlow will begin work as central girl at the commencement of the school term, and will attend nigh school.

The ball game Sunday won 10-5 by the local boys, Dcrcthy Holuba spent the week 1th Ethlyn Hook at Rossville. Mr. and Mrs. Irl Schurr and children of Kansas City are visiting his parents, and Mrs. Rudolph Schurr.

Floyd Fleming, cur blacksmith the past year, has moved to Wamego. Mrs. Ethel Bohn of Wamego is visiting this week with her sister, Mrs. Walter Bammes. Wayne Whitney left Wednesday for Wathena where he will work for a time in the nurseries.

Morlan and Marie spent several days last week visiting, relatives at Rantoul. High. school opened Monday with 62 enrolment "and the grades with 67 pupils. In the high school there will be about twenty tuition Harry Peterson and Pete Miller made a business trip to Kansas City Friday. Carl Holman made a peddling trip, with melons late last week.

Carl has a bunch of dandy musk melons. One weighed fourteen pounds, which seems like a big muskie to us. B. Dalton, who underwent an operation' at Mayo's a week ago is reported getting along fine." Saturday was home coming day at St. George.

A large changing crowd was in attendance all day. About 160 enrolled for the basket dinner at the auditorium. A long program in the afternoon by the "old timers" their children and grandchildren proved an enjoyable tntertainment. The officers were 4 reelected arid, will serve another year. The arrangements were ably managed by those in charge and we all look forward to the next one.

The P. T. A. will hold its first meeting this week on Thursday evening. The concert that was to have been given by the municipal btmd of Randolph, last week Wednesday evening, was postponed on account of rain, til Wednesday evening this The Ruth and Naomi Society will meet next week on Wednesday afternoon in place of this week.

Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Lindbloom drove to Denver Friday and Miss Viola who has visited at that place he past few weeks, will return home with them.

'Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Shehi were in Topeka one day lastweek and Miss Lois returned home with them after having visited with relatives there. Miss Zenubia Vllanded and Mrs. N.

Sayler came Saturday from Topeka and visited at V. E. Vilanders till Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs.

John Fritzinger of here saturaay. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tarnstorm moved into their apartment in the Ed Lundin home last week. There was a fair attendance at the social given by the Ruth and Naomi society Thursday evening, last week.

Miss Rena Vilander and Mrs, Leslie Rasher of Abilene spent La bor day at E. Vilanders. The M. E. Sunday school held promotion exercises Sunday morn ing.

Mrs. John Johnson and Miss Dorothy entertained the Tah'tha society last week, Thursday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Falin vistte the latter's brother Mack.

The Methodist Ladies Aid society met the second of September. Most of the members were present and a goodly number of visitors. A nice prograrn was given by those present and a most enjoyable session was held. The first Thursday in next month Mesdames Stone and Ny berg will be the hostesses. Our M.

E. Sunday school had a picnic last Friday. They had planned to go to the Osbourne Springs fo rthe day but the- late rains had made the ground at the spring so damp and in some parts was muddy. So going there was abandoned, and (hey to the park at Cla; Center. They had games and dinner war served, after which more games; then a treat of cream waa served.

The attendance was Quite large and a finr.time was had by all. There were one hundred and seven pupils, the opening day at our high school Monday morning. Monday was Labor day and our city was as quiet as on a Sunday. Fost -ttfflce and most of the business houses were closed all day. All the demonstrations to be seen was a disnlay of Old Glory, which to me Is always a welcome sight.

We strained our eyes lastveek to get a glimpse of the eclipse but not a vistage could be seen. The sky was wonderfully bright and no darkness during the hour it was said to occur. A. Noll; Wr. Denman, Miss Goldie Scarborough and Miss Francas Potter. The teachers for the. grad? school are Miss Grace Street and Miss Alpha Johnsmeyer.

Our people are glad to have our pastor, the Rev. Westerman and Mrs, Westerman at home in the parsonage. Miss Helen of the' high school graduating class, last May, will go to Emporia Saturday to take up college work and Dale Edefblute returns Wednesday to Kansas state, wnue ms sister, Nina; gees back to the high school teaching staff at Stockdale. Mr. and Mrs.

Jerry Schnoor of Artesian New Mexico, with their daughter, Miss Lois Were calling on keats friends today, -Monday. Miss Lois Schnoor formejly was, super- -visor of music in our schools here, and is now employed in the schools at Milford. Her parents will spend the winter with her. The Ladies Aid Society will meet at the annex on Friday afternoon. This will be a social meeting.

Many were sorrowed hear of the death of Mrs. Henry Kobiskie who passed away at her home south of Alma Friday Mrs. Kobiskie had been ailing for sometime but seemed to be getting better, when Friday morning she passed quietly away leaving to mourn her untimely death her husband and five children; She also leaves a sister of Topeka and three neices and nephews Hinerville. The annual reunion of the Hiner, Pugh and Fair relation was held in the Wamego park Sunday. There were 65 present.
