Benedict. AMUSEMENTS. The Engagement of the Palmer Company. On Monday evening, August 11th, A. M.

Palmer's company from the Madison Square theater, New York, will commence their engagement at the Grand opera house. In several respects, Mr. Palmer's engagement is one of the most important of the season. The prominence which his organization has attained and maintained through many i years is very generally known. The trij umphs of the old Union Square theater, under Mr.

Palmer's regime, have passed into the history of theatricals in this country. When Mr. Palmer assumed I the reins of government at the Madison Square theater, all the characteristics of I the old Union Square organizations were I transferred immediately to the new I house. Mr. Palmer has always been noted as a producer of powerful and successful plays, and his com- I pany comes to us this time thor- I ougnly equipped in the way of reper- I toire.

The opening play will be Captain Swift, which was such a notable success lat the Madison Square. It has excellent parts for all the company, and is sure to prove a wise selection for their opening nere. The other plays to be presented here are: Saints and Sinners, Jim the Penman, A Man of the World, and Aunt Jack. Following is a list of the Palmer company this season: Maurice Barrymore, Frederick Robinson, J. H.

Stoddard, E. M. Holland, E. M. Bell, I.

H. Tyler, Henry Woodruff, Charles W. Butler, Herbert Millward, Percy Winter, Reub Fox, Harry Holliday, J. L. Ottomeyer, B.

W. Singer, Ed Stancliff, George Lennox, Miss Ada Dyas, Miss Maud Harrison, Miss Nannie Craddock, Miss Emily Seward, and Mrs. E. J. Phillips.

The sale of seats commences tomorrow. A ST. LOUIS PHYSICIAN. Ha Testa a California Production. Report.

A St. Louis gentleman whose affliction was sick headaches was so surprised at the core effected by Vegetable Sarsaparilla, that he called it to the attention of a relative, who happened to be none other than Dr. F. A. Barrett, the well-known St Louis physician of 2652 andoah Street.

The doctor saw at once that it differed from the potash preparation! in that it was purely vegetable, and becoming interested in it, began a series of and in a subsequent letter candidly admitted iti curative properties, and says: Wishing to test its virtues farther, I used It in my own family, and prescribed it for patients who required a geneVal system regulator. As a result, lean say it is an almost absolute cure for constipation, biliousness, dyspepsia, indigestion, and sick headaches. These troubles usually come from a disturbed condition of the stomach and bowels, and Joy's Vegetable Sarsaparilla is the best laxative and stomach regulator I have ever seen, and as a general system corrective Is almost perfection itself.
