Mr. Bierk studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts and received his master of arts degree from Humboldt State College, Areata, Calif. He is founder-director of Art-space, a non-profit art centre in Peterborough. Following their wedding trip they will take up residence in Peterborough.

i 5 i 0 i i I Jit I i i The 24th annual Country Homes tour, sponsored by the St. James's Church Women, Hudson Heights, will be held Thursday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Six houses will be on view. Lunch (in three sittings) will be served in the St.

James's church hall and in the hall of St Mary's Church, Como. There will be an exhibition and sale of paintings by the Hudson Artists Group. Tickets may be obtained by calling Mrs. Wilfrid Ham-son, 4584200 or Mrs. David Clayton, 458-4932.

GORDON Special to The Gazette "There was such a demand for tickets," said a commit-' tee member of the Women's Division of State of Israel Bonds, for the luncheon honoring Mrs. Carolyn Wiener, fashion director of Holt Renfrew, "that in order to accommodate the head table we had to do away with the fashion runway." More than 325 women filled the Oval Room of the Ritz-Carlton Tuesday to pay tribute to Mrs. Wiener and to see the presentation of designer Andre Laug's fall and winter collection.

Mrs. Wiener is the first recipient of Israel Bonds' award to an outstanding woman in her chosen field. Mr. Laug, whose headquarters are in Rome, had come to Montreal from Texas and said that to him Texans and Italians bad many characteristics in common. Tables were centred with paper bond certificates tucked into cardboard bricks, with the slogan 'State of Israel Bonds Good as Among those seated at the head table were the guest of honor who wore an Andre Laug model of dove grey crepe with collar and cuffs of white organdy; Mr.

A luncheon will follow the ceremony and among the guests will be the bride's grandmother Mrs. Ferdinand L. Mayer, of Bennington. Miss Aimers attended The Study School, was graduated cum laude from the Emma Willard School, Troy, N.Y., received her bachelor of arts degree from Queen's University and a diploma in Arts ad mide received with her husband, wearing a gown of black crepe patterned with white flowers. Among the guests were Christian Deslauriers, of Quebec's department of protocol; Chechoslovakian Vice-Consul, Bedrich Srnec, who is charmed with the delights of Montreal; the Consul-Gen-eral of Peru, Luis Mendivil, who said that his country will participate in this year's Man and His World, and Mrs.

Mendivil; Duncan Campbell, the Consul-General of Portugal and Mrs. Antonio Colaco, Denis Jotcham, and Gordon to David Charles Bierk, son of Mrs. Doris Bierk, of Walnut Creek, which is taking place Saturday, May 31, in the garden of the residence of the bride's parents, 'Swallowbrook', Abercorn, Que. The bride will be attended by Mrs. Thomas Houston, of Toronto, as matron of honor, by her cousins, Josephine and Katharine McKee, of Bennington, Vermont, as bridesmaids, and by the bridegroom's daughter, Heather, as flower-girl.

Denis Tourbin, of Peter The Quebec Minister of Agriculture, Jean Garon; George Firestone, Florida's secretary of state; Doyle Connors, the State's commissioner of agriculture, and Senator Allan Trask, were among those who attended a reception held last week at the Velodrome.
