-V -r MONTREAL, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1980 PAGES 73 TO 84 SPORTSUNE INSIDE: GENERAL NEWS THOMAS SCHNURMACHBT A i iLa i 1 ft-t i A Angy director leaves Argentina Armando Bo, one of the most successful film directors in South America is furious at an Argentine government agency that has refused to grant him a subsidy for his latest film. How furious is he? Armando is so furious that he is planning to leave Argentina to pursue his film career elsewhere. New York and Hollywood will probably be his first stops, but there is considerable speculation that he will be making his next film here in Montreal. As I write this, I can't help thinking what would happen if Bo Derek married Armando Bo. She would then be called Bo Bo.

Some people call her that already. there were no less than two wrap parties in town earlier this week. A "wrap party" is film jargon, for a final shindig thrown by a producer in sheer gratitude that the ordeal is over. Such a gathering provides the cast and orew with one last opportunity to good-naturedly bad-mouth other Canadian filmmakers. It is the last chance to plug into the grapevine to hear about another film, another job.

The selections were announced at the fourth annual Author's Awards dinner for outstanding English paperback books, magazine articles and short stories, sponsored by the Periodical Distributors of Canada. The award for paperback fiction marked the third literary prize for Munro's Who Do You Think You Are, a collection of 10 short stories about a woman living in a small southwestern Ontario town.

Munro, a resident of Clinton, previously won the Governor-General's Award and the Canadian Australian Literary Prize. Lawrence's A Bloody War, which won in the non-fiction category, describes the contributions of the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. Munro's book edged Kathcrine Govier's Random Descent, about the struggle to keep a family together, while Lawrence's was selected ahead of Bronfman Dynasty, by Peter C. Newman.
