However, greatest protection Is given by 18x18 mesh, with 18 strands per inch in each direction. This is recommended for areas where there are many insects. Senate Approves Plan Cutting Tax Jumps Under Butler Laws Springfield, 111., June A senate approved plan for cutting back tax increases permitted under the Butler 100 per cent mandatory property tax assessment laws moved today to the Illinois house. The senate a 44 to 0 vote last night passed the bill, sponsored by Senator Merritt J.

Little (R-Aurora). What the final general assembly action will be on taxes was uncertain in view of house passage three weeks ago of its own tax ceiling legislation, which now awaits disposition by the senate. Little's proposal would provide a determination of tax rate ceiling; in the next five years by using the 1942, 1943 or 1944 assessment ratio whichever was multiplying it by the 1945 maximum rate. Ag-ainst Year's Assessment Value The resulting rate would be applied against the current year's 'ull assessment valuation to produce maximum taxes. Under the Butler laws, the 1942 ratio of assessed value to the full value is used.

Little in urging passage of his bill said it was "important that some limitation be placed on tax rates but we shouldn't cirpple municipal governments," He said school groups preferred his plan to the house measure. Both proposals are aimed at limiting taxes to meet complaints against high 1946 tax bills payable this year. But they differ in the tax formulas provided to accomplish their purposes. The house approved plan would allow downstate taxing bodies 15 to 20 per cent more than their 1945 maximum Some tax experts said the effect of the senate bill would vary widely in each taxing district. They said it generally would reduce taxes, but that some units might be limited to less than they could have raised in 1945.

The Butler laws, which require 100 per cent assessments, became effective last year. Vitus Bering, a Dane serving the Russian crown, discovered Alaska In 1741. SAVE on Dreft See Coupon; Page 17 Ckurch Services In. Nearby Towns i Salem Evangelical and Ilcfornwl, near Kleroy Sunday school, 9 n. m.
