A disciplo of Bacchus, having im-bibod too freely of tanglefoot whiskey on Wednesday ovening, fired his six-shooter in tho air and becamo so hilarious that ho was pulled and locked up by sheriff Pascoe.

Tho commencement exorcises of tho Globo public school, wcro held last evening in the M.

E. Church, before an audience which filled all tho available spaco in tho building. Our columns are too crowded to permit of our giving a detailed account of the exhibition, but as a wholo it was a meritorious and pleasing entertainment. All tho pupils who participated did admirably, and evinced tho thorough training which thoy havo leceived under tho instruction of their principal Mr. J.

B. McGinnis. The programme was as follows: Salutatory, Miss Ella White; Songs by pupils of school declamation and valedictory by Miss Ada Livingston song and recitation oy Miss Emma Swascy; original, essay by Mis3 Delia Mastor Elias and Misses Mary and Eva Cookf "Jong by Misses Delia Middlcton, Floral Wood and Annie Pascoe; declamation by Miss Annie Brown song by Misses Annie Brown and Ella Whito. Then the amusing comedy "Lord Dundreary's Visit" was given, Master Alfred Liv ingston impersonating Dundieary and vli OllASCS I ilUUlU 1 itSCUU ailUtfUllit iiviuvj and Master James Anderson taking tho othor characters. Thcjiistrumon-tal music was finely rendered by Mrs.

Dr. Hendrix nnd a pleasing song by tho Globo Glee Club quartette, composed of Messrs. McNelly, Lynes, Hitchcock and Nupton. As many of tho parents and friends of tho pupils in tho primary department wero unable to attend tho exercises at the schoolhousc, in the afternoon, it was thought advisable to have some of tho littlo ones repeat their pieces at the church, and the audience expressed their pleasuro by frequent applause. Those of tliQiprimary department who recited wero, Alex Graydon, Cassa Van Dorn, Letitia Watkins, Laura Watkins, Mariam Holmes, Geraldino Gerald, George Schul-te, Walter Shute, Florence Trc-vilian, James Kaler and Willie Butler.

At tho conclusion of the exercises, Mr. McGiunis addressed tho children in a few well chosen words, congratulating them on tho progress they had mado while under his tuition, complimenting Mrs. Ross for her ablo assistance, and regretting that the time had come for their separation. Mr. Charles Fisk then spoko briefly, commending the teachers for thu success they had attained in tho scholastic year just ended, and on behalf of tho pupils in the principal's room, ho presented to Mr.

McGinnis a handsome gold pen, which was accented, giace-fiilly. Alfred Livingston was llieri presented with a like gift, as a prizo from Dr. Cook, to the scholar passing the best examination in hygiene. An overture on tho piano, by Mrs. Dr.

Hendrix, was a fitting finale to a very pleasing entertainment. AX E.VJOYA11LK AJ'1'AIIJ. The Uwn party given by tho Globo City Club, on Wednesday evening, will long be remembered with pleasuro by those who attended. It was through tho courtesy of Dr. Stallo, who tendered tho use of his spacious grounds, that the club was enabled to entertain their friends in the open air, a pleasing departure from the old plan of giving parties at the hall, and thoroughly appreciated by the guests.

A lanre platform had been constructed for dancing upon, which answered tho purpose admirably. At one end was the music stand, over which was tastefully draped a largo Hag. Over tho middlo of tho platform, extending from end to end, was hung a row of Chineso lantorns and threo immense headlights throw a flood of light on the merrymakers. Other lights were scattered through the ground, and the moon lent her silvery rays to make the sceno more attractive. Dr.

Stallo's handsome parlor was thrown open for the uso of tho ladies, and nothing that would conduce to tho pleasuro and comfort of tho guests was overlooked. The air was just cool enough to dancing enjoj able, and tho devotees of Terpsichoro entered into the amusement with vim, and were- only persuaded to rest long enough to paitakc of refreshments. After the inner man had been feasted on ico cream, vcfake and lemonade, dancing was resumed and continued until alatehouiv Much credit isjilrtc-TsTYiley, Dr. Stallo, -iiOi'ppel, Mr. Lynes and other member of the club for their efforts to make tho affair the unquali fied success which it certainly was.

Van S. In announcing that Kellner had the contract for carrying coko and copper for tho Old Dominion, we were led into error by the rumor of tho street, not an uncommon mistake, as is evidenced by tho fact that Claude Mel-notto was similarly duped by a report that he had been given tho mitten by Pauline, and that sho had promised to marry another fellow through sordid motives.

Tho present contract with Liberman Co. does not expire for somo months. 1 tt i On Monday morning last Thomas Pascoe hitched his bronco team to a buggy, with a view of visiting his and his brother Ben's cattlo ranch, and on taking his seat in the vehicle drew tho reins and started, but had not gone more than fifty feet before the unruly animals overturned the buggy, and piled Tom in the dirt with the soles of his nuinbeiv-'seven boots, facing the blessed sun. Tho vehicle was damaged, but Tom came oft' unscathed. He showed a littlo temper while the horses wero being taken to the stable, by profusely dealing in expletives which, to religious ears, might have slacked of a type of mild profanity.

He, however, cannot bo gieatly cen sured for the "mild indulgence," for the reason that such a mishap might shako the saintship of an anchorite. I I Yesterday closed a very successful year in the Globo public school. The examinations begun on Monday were continued through the week, and the scholars acquitted themselves very creditably indeed. On Friday afternoon the pupils in the assistant's room gave an exhibition at the school house, before parents and friends. Songs and recitations were given in a pleasing manner by the little ones, and re flected credit on their teacher, Mrs.

A. B. Ross. Among thoso who sang and recited pieces were Geraldino Gerald, Hannah -Vaft Enuo. ipeno, Letitia Watkins, Willie AtvCJrson.

Ella Moronev. Walter Shui, Tommy Trevilian, Edgar Tren--grove, Willie Butler and Augustina Moreno. Next week wo will publish tho standing of all the scholars in both rooms. SUIIBEX DEATH. The untimely and sudden death of John How.ud, is a warning for the reader also to be ready to respond to the call which can not be denied.

Mr Howard was seemingly in tho enjoyment of robust health until a minute or two befoi his death. He had gono to visit his daughter, Mrs. Henry Middleton, icsiding on Salt river and shortly before his demise, had liseu from his bed and seated himself on a chair from which he almost immediately fell. The family hearing the noise, Henry Middlcton, his son-in-law, and Frank Hammon hurried to tho spot but too late to render any assistance, as it was apparent that his soul had crossed tho boundaries of time. It is evident that his death was caused by an unusual flow of blood to the head, as every sign indicated.

The funeral sei vices, conducted by Rev. W. George, were held at tho M. E. Chuich on Tuesday and tho remains interred in the Globe ceanetry.

The stage driver, on Ihe Grande route, on Thursday informed us that tho boundary lines of the San Carlos Indian Reservation litld been so extended as to include vajuablo ranches and mining. property, Mr. Blair and others among the number, and that Mr. Blair had been officially notified to vacate the premises. The following is tho warrant for tho order of dispossession.

It is peremptory, and requires that all upon the reservation, wiMiout authority of law, must bo notified to leave: Copy Extract. Department or tiieInterior, Washington, Feb. 24, 1883. P. P.

3d Cavalry. COnitESI'OXDEXCE. Willcox, A. June 9, 188-1. Dear Belt: It's been long- a coming, but it's here I have referenco to the hot weather.

And you, who sojourn on tho banks of Pinal creek, and breath the pure air of Globe's altitude, and whose cheeks arc fanned by the cool breezes from Pinal's pitte wreathed summit, cannot obtain a full appreciation of the force of the adjective from a simple perusal of this letter. One must needs experience; tho tiempo caloroso of this section in conjunction with the all-pervading dust, kicked up by the idle teamsters and their brother-mules (they are all here) to know hat "hot" is intended to convey. tho mules and the mulc-slin-ncrs, thcl)uls and tho oull-whackers, and the big arc all'jiere; the or nor oftener than the drivers. No coke. Washouts to the east of us; washouts to the west us.

Sorry condition of affairs, but most of the boys seem inclined to accept the situation and thank tho Lord it's no worse. The merchants wear calm, placid looks. "Oh we'll own 'cm all, ranchers and ranches, teamsters and teams, miners and mines before many days." Alas! and they will, too. Not that their prices are exorbitant. Oh, no! but who is earning expenses among this crowd of willing-to-be-at work men? Men must cat, and mules too; bulls are pretty good rustlers, but miners do not live upon -''wind-pudding with atmospheric sauce." Phil Montague, the -News man," wears a self-satisfied smile born of an inward feeling of well performed duty, and a knowlcdgo of a paying paper.

Phil is not a descendant of Tigge Montague, Esq. George King is happyand indolent; no mails to sort, and very littlo to make up. King has added largely to his stock in store, and now carries a well selected stock of stationery, fancy articles, cutlery, Ac, in connection with his supply of fruits, in season, nuts and candies. Julius Liberman has gone east to enjoy his summer solstice, and Max Mayer handles their enormous business as easily and gracefully as if A Norton Stewart, D.H; Smith and the other smaller merchants seem to be doing about the usual amount of business. They aro "closing out their credit business," and adopting a cash basis, much to the regret and disappointment of mining men aud prospectors.

Mine host Davis, and his estimable lady ot the Eureka House, are progressive people; Davis has refurnished his houo complete, from new olJice and bar furniture to dining room and sleeping apartments. Tho weary traveler can now repose upon bran-new spring mattrasses, setup in handsome ly furnished and carpeted apartments, and be suie of soul-sustaining meals at most reasonable rates. I didn't mean this for an advertising letter, but "every thing goes" these dull times. This section is favored with tho visits of numerous people searching for ranches, stocked and open, and rumors of some heavy transactions in that lino aro mooted about. Don't you Globeites be disheartened, for tho coke laden teams vll soon bo "poling" down your streets.

Wo know there's plenty en route for here, and will soon reach ifs destination. DeWitt. Fresh ranch eggs at Fomerville'D. ii i i in Mr. Ward, of Tonto, express the belief thatj Tom Mooro was not killed by tho party, composed of Fred Soheiss, F.

The fact and manner of his death was correctly stated at length in tho Arizona SilVer Belt. Sheriff B. Pascoe, who saw the deceased lying on the ground whero ho fell from his horse, examined the wound that caused his death and confirms tho statement of facts as published.
