IS SHE THE RIGHT GIRL? By SAM MALTIN Montreal is going to play host to a $25,000 party during a five-day card-playing feast at the Sheraton-Mount Royal Hotel, May 20-24. That will be the cost of running the Can-Am Regional Contract Bridge Championships to the Montreal Bridge League. The championship tourna- ment is held here every two and attracts players from all over the continent, with a varied program of events offering an opportunity for participation by all ranks of bridge talent. Unlike other sports, where only the best enter championship events, bridge tournaments are most-': ly open affairs and only a few events restrict entries. Newcomers 'to the game even have their own group session in the novice pairs, a special game which has the attraction that all hands predealt, plus a narrative description of how the bidding and playing should been done, given to participants after the ses-; sion.

Being a big league affair, five-day marathon will bring special directors to act as umpires or referees, and I take full charge of all events. 1 They'll be imported from as I far away as Chicago, while others are coming from New York, Toronto and other cen-iStres. All directors are named 5 by the American Contract Bridge League, which sanctions the Montreal tourney. It costs money to be in the major leagues and the umpir-, ing staff alone is budgeted for $5,000 with an additional billing for sanction fees, 'prizes, supplies and other items, making it a nut to crack. SOCIAL SIDE Another tab of $10,000 will be the cost of rental of playing space and entertainment, which will have a double highlight this year, a traditional wine and cheese party on Friday evening and a "Midnight Frolic" on Saturday.

The latter will be in the form of a dance with the popular Noel Talarico Orches- supplying the music. Other social events, such as "waiting for the scores" par- ties, brunches and sightseeing bus trips are also scheduled. No wonder the MBL is a non-profit organization! CHAIRMAN MAUCH A highlight of the tournament is expected to be the special Saturday morning panel show which will bring together experts on bridge who'll discuss and answer questions on the game. The panel will be chaired by Gene Mauch, manager of the Montreal Expos, and quite a man with a bridge hand. This is a free show and is open to the public.

BOOK FAIR Another special side event will be a bridge book fair arranged by Barclay Bridge Supplies, offering an opportunity for browsing or buying among the latest in text books. There'll be $2.00 specials and free, gifts from Barclay. The Can-Am tournament is already attracting great attention and it should be the biggest ever held here. NON-CAN-AM As a warm-up to the Can-Am and 'as part of their annual special events, the Y.M.-Y.W.H.A. Bridge Club will hold two open events this week.

On Tueday evening they'll play hosts for the Rishikof Trophy meet and on Thursday afternoon at 1.15 there'll be another "everybody welcome" do for the Adolphe Thow Trophy. CLUB RESULTS Alcan: Brian Fraser, Rick Herring; Ari VanDyk, Paul Lemieux. Chateau: Mr. and Mrs. A.

Gold, tied. It is not very hard to "fall in some people do it every day. But falling in love with a girl "til death do us part" is a much bigger order. Let's look at your current flame and test its temperature. Answer True or False to each.

1. She is basically of the same socio-economic level as I am. 2. She is really more intelligent than I but never actually shows it. 3.

She anticipates my every need, and asks for nothing for herself. 4. I am proud of the way she looks when we go out on a date. 5. She has a few annoying habits, but I forgive her for those.

6. She makes a great girlfriend and companion but she will have to dtf a lot of maturing to be a good mother. She gets along well with my family, and I get along with her folks, too. We like doing many kinds of things together. She knows what's good for me and gets me 8.

She is feminine and responsive to me without losing her individuality or strength. A wife should be fairly similar in both class level and IQ, so grade 1 True and 2 False. If you answered True to the relationship sounds too one-way. You should be proud of ber looks regardless of beauty; and she should not bave truly annoying habits. Sbe should sbow basic maturity for motherhood (6 True); and bad relationships toitb either family are a handicap.

Many interests in common are important (8); and sbe should not be trying to re-make you (9), Tbe modern democratic family pattern recommends that each be responsive yet be their own competition.
