Clear Lake Globe-Gazette Mrs. Huber Named to State Daughters of Union Vet Post CLEAR LAKE The appointment of Mrs. Fred Huber to state office of color bearer 3, of Daughter of Union Veterans, wai announced at the meeting at City Hall. Mrs. J.

V. Bohning was installing officer, Mrs. E. W. Winnie, guide, and Mrs.

G. E. Curphy, chaplain, for installation of officers. Installed were the following Mrs. Fred Huber, president; Mrs.

J. T. Charlesworth, senior vice- president; Verna Carpenter, secretary. Mrs. Russell Roberts, treasurer; Ethel Carpenter, musician; Mrs.

Curphy, chaplain; Mrs. Bohning, patriotic instructor; Cynthia Taylor, colorbearer; Mabel Robinson and Mrs. W. D. Von Seggen and Miss Taylor, council members; Mrs.

Ralph Ott and Mrs. Robinson and Verna Carpenter, delegates to state convention. Mrs. Von Seggen, Mrs. Henry Butts and Mrs.

Clarence Zook, alternates; Mrs. Ott, guard; Mrs. E. W. Winnie, assistant guard; Mrs.

Robinson, guide; Mrs. Ott, Mrs. Winnie and Mrs. Charlesworth, flowers, and Mrs. Bohning and Mrs.

Curphy, department aides. It was voted to donate $5 to March of Dimes. Officers gave annual reports. Mrs. Huber reported on her attendance at a committee meeting where plans were made for the state convention in June at Mason City.

The Clear Lake tent will assist the Mason City tent, convention host. Mrs. S. A. Bemis, Mason City, and Mrs.

J. T. Charlesworth, Clear Lake, are cochairmen of that event. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Charlesworth and Mrs.

Von Seggen. Mrs. Robinson and Miss Taylor will be co-hostesses at the A. B. Phillips home Feb.

FRED HUBER Missionary From Bolivia Writes to Lutheran Circle CLEAR LAKE A letter from Mrs. Henrik Erickson, missionary in LaPaz, Bolivia, S.A., was read to members of Martha Circle at the home of Mrs. H. L. Erickson.

The missionary thanked the group for Christmas boxes sent her. Mrs. Glen Erickson gave the Bible lesson from II Kings, 34. Mrs. Henry Reiter will be hostess Feb.

16. Eunice Circle members who met at the home of Mrs. Peter Wohler, heard the Bible study given by Mrs. Wohler. The Rev.

George Strum and Mrs. Fred Christensen were guests. Mrs. C. 0.

Lomen will be hostess Feb. 16. Mrs. J. A.

Anderson led devotions for Lois Circle at the home of Mrs. Alfred Smith. Mrs. W. H.

Townsend gave the lesson. The Rev, Mr. Strum was a guest. Mrs. Keith McGowan will be hostess Feb.

16. Adult Class in Shop Will Start Monday CLEAR adult educa Uon class in woodworking, metal spinning and leather craft with Gerald Gorton as instructor will begin at 7:30 p.m., Monday at the High School. Enrollment fee is $5 for the 10 sessions. Adults who are interested may contact T. G.

Buns, superintendent. The other class adult education class meeting on Monday evening is the typing group with Miss Irma Golberg as instructor. Ten persons are now enrolled in this class. A class in photography, under the direction of Glenn Kellogg, meets every Wednesday evening at the high school. Photoflopd lighting was demonstrated with Jane Duesenberg as a model for several pictures taken.

Developing of film will be the topic for next week. Vocational homemaking and agriculture classes also are held on Wednesday evenings. British Set for Campaign on Morality LONDON (UP) Britain's 18- month-old moral clean-up cam paign has moved into the political arena. Parliamentarians, church and civic leaden and even members of the cabinet are weighing legislation to wipe out prostitution, homesexuaUty, pornography and obscene literature. The Churchill government lately has been so plagued with demands to ban the sale of horror comics that two cabinet ministers have hinted at the intro faction of laws to keep them off JriUin's bookstalls.

The government also is faced with what has been described as activity" by prostitutes and perverts, while variety thea- are being scored for presenting "nude" shows to the exclusion of what is called "traditional British variety." The comics at issue are those whose central 'characters are ghouls or vampires, the "crime often pays" type, and others that exploit excesses and amoral acts. Firm The storm against this type of children's "entertainment" has reached such proportions that already the largest firm producing horror" comics here has announced that it will cease publication and devote its energies to better-type products. Lloyd George promised the deputation the "most careful consideration by the government" of the whole horror comics question. Soon after he announced a full government inquiry into the matter and hinted that legislation would be introduced into the next session of Parliament to ban "horrors" together. Ephriam Cummins, 88, Found Dead at Farm Home Death from natural causes was the coroner's verdict in the case of Ephriam Shusted Cummins, 88. The elderly man was found dead Thursday morning at his farm home BVi miles south of Clear Lake. He. had not been ill previously, Dr. J.

E. Christopherson, Cerro Gordo County coroner, reported. Mr. Cummins had made his home on the farm with his son and two daughters since 1933. The Wilcox Funeral Home at Clear Lake is in charge of arrange ments.
