of A Obituaries Jocal Colin Kemp Funeral for James Colin Kemp, 78, prominent Montreal engineer and executive who died Saturday, will be held tomorrow at 2.30 p.m. from St. George's Church. Mr. Kemp was born in London, England.

He was educated at Clifton College and University College, Oxford, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, and at McGill University where the obtained the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1908. During the First World War, he served overseas as adjutant of the 60th Battalion, Victoria Rifles of Canada, and was gazetted Brigade Major, 3rd and 5th Canadian Infantry Brigades and G.S.0. 3 Canadian Corps Staff. He wounded, mentioned in dispatches, and was awarded the D.S.O. and M.C.

After leaving McGill, Mr. Kemp joined the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co. of CanJada in British Columbia, later went to the Drummond Mines at Cobalt, and R. A. Ross and consulting engineers in Montreal.

From 1926 to 1934, he was employed by the National City Company Limited. In 01934 he transferred to the staff of Dominion Stores Ltd. as manager of the Montreal division. In 1937, Mr. Kemp became executive director of the Home Improvement Plan, under the late Arthur D.

Purvis, chairman of the National Employment Commission. He became managing director of George S. Armstrong Co. (Canada) industrial engineers and management consultants, in 1945. Since 1951 Mr.

Kemp had been a consulting engineer in Montreal. He was a member of the Corporation of Professional Engineers of the Province of Quebec; Canadian Institute Mining and Metallurgy; and the Engineering Institute of Canada. He was a former president the Canadian Club, and a enember the University Club of Montreal, Royal Montreal Golf Club, chapter of Alpha Delta Phi, Oxford Society, Vincent Club, Oxford; Prestwick Golf Club; Royal Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews. He served for several years as a Westmount alderman.

A well-known golfer and runner, Mr. Kemp held the McGill and intercollegiate records for the mile and half-mile for many years. He competed in the rifle shooting competition at Bisley in 1900. Mr. Kemp is survived by his wife, the former Elsie Marian Blackader, and four children, Mrs.

H. Stirling Maxwell, Barbara Kemp, Mrs. F. H. Dilling-44 ham, and John P.

G. Kemp. Edith Macdonald TORONTO (CP) Miss Edith Macdonald, 84, well known Toronto journalist and advertising writer, died in hospital here Sunday. Before joining Eaton's of Canada in 1910, Miss Macdonald was a women's editor of the old Toronto Evening News. Although officially retired since 1936, she continued to write advertising copy until two weeks before her death.

She was a continuously active member of the Canadian Women's Press Club from 1906 on, and a founding member of the Toronto Women's Press Club. MARIE. -C- Eric and Pamela Morse of Ottawa landed today at Gros Cap, 12 miles short of completing their 360-mile canoe trip from Fort William to here. Gros Cap point where Lake Superior flows into the St. Mary's River. The couple set out in their 17- foot canoe from Fort William July 31.

They paddled the 150 miles to Marathon in five days. Bad weather kept them off the lake for almost a week during their journey. At times they bucked waves up to six feet high. They are expected to lock through the Canadian ship canal here about 9 a.m. EDT tomorrow.

Four CNR Cars Are Derailed Four CNR freight cars were derailed Saturday morning when they were sideswiped in shunting accident. No one was injured, Mrs. W. J. Doran Service for Mrs.

Nora Doran, 45, wife of W. J. Doran, president of the Canadian Brewers Association, will be held tomorrow at the J. C. Wray Chapel at p.m, Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pasadena, Calif.

Mrs. Doran died Friday in Tinmins General Hospital, Timmins, after a brief illness. Born in Montreal, Mrs. Doran attended school and abroad. During the Second World War, she served in the CWAC, and since that time has been active in community and charitable affairs in Timmins.

She was president of the Timmins Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society, Mrs. Doran was the daughter of Kenneth T. Dawes, and the late Stelle M. Dawes. She is survived by her father, a brother, Donald K.
