Here are the reasons as given out' by the statistician for the U. S. Food Administration for Kansas: First Meat of all kinds is scarce. There was a scarcity before the Great War began. With the opening of the war the herds of France and England were annihilated for Immediate needs.

Today those countries not only are short of meat for consumption but for breeding purposes. It will take several years to restock the farms of Europe even though eveVy European should stop eating meat. Second Meat of all kinds is scarce in this country and as a result people are eating chicken. Chickens are bound to bring big returns as meat. Third Eggs are always in demand.

With the high price of meat many people eat eggs as a substitute. The hen which will lay eggs next winter and lay them early is going to make money for her owner and help whip the Kaiser. "There is also a great meat shortage in America. No matter how hard Americans work to raise poultry this spring and the coming summer they can not raise too much. There will still be a meat shortage and the meat shortage will result in continued demand for chicken as meat and eggs as food." Hog raising and all other farming must be put on a scientific and business basis.

HEvery farmer knows that next in importance to the selection of breed comes a properly-designed and well-built Hog House a Hog House designed to admit maximum sunlight at farrowing time, so as to make possible two litters a year instead of one, and bigger, healthier pigs. 1Weatherproof Hog Houses warmer in winter and cooler in summer eliminate loss through disease and exposure. They let every possible ounce of feed go to pork production. Good Lumber Assures warm, dry Hog Houses because the boards stay where you put them the joints hold tight. Good pine is the most economical wood for all outside uses because it does not warp, twist, split or rot you don't have to make continual outlay for repairs It's easy to work and easy on tools.

And the difference in cost between Good Lumber and the cheapest wood for the exterior of any farm building is negligible. Pleasured in terms of hogs, it costs less to build now than ever before. tl, Certain Lin Co. A. C.
