R. Granger, chairman of the Registration Commiitee of the Quebec Amateur Hockey Association, has authorized the following statement in reference to the Dufresne case. Dufresne took an actlou in the courts, stating that he had been improperly refused an amateur card. Dufresne yesterday publicly withdrew ail proceedings in tiie court and Jtidge Coderre rendered judgment, dismissing the proceedings, with costs against Dufresne. The executive committee of the United States Amateur Hookey Association meeting here tonight decided to initiate an arrangement by which, beginning next season, the championship hockey team of the colleges will play the champions of the several groups of the Cnited States Association for the national title. As a means of making uniform the system of play, it was voted that the association should recommend that the colleges of the Cnited States accept six men hockey. Harvard, acknowledged champion this year, already has indicated that it would change from the seven man system next season. In the first period Loyola took the jump in the attack and appeared to be the best team, but starting in the second aion, the Lower Canada team showed a marked improvement, and from then on to the end were continually Khe offensive, although they at status has been questioned. Dufresne explained, under oath, that he was young and inexperienced at the time and did not know that any members of the baseball team for or against whom he played wene professionals. He also gave further details of his expense money and stated he had never received more than his actual expenses. In view of these and Dufresne's undertaking to abide bv the amateur rules of Canada and the United States, the committee decided to deal with the matter in a broad and sportsmanlike manner by giving him a fresh start toy issuing him an amateur card.
