Next Saturday Dual Bond Vote Registration On Two elections are to be held in Robeson county on Tuesday, April 16. The County Board of Elections has set in motion the machinery for conducting both the Robeson County School Bond Election and the Lumberton School District Bond Election. Registrars from all over the county attended a briefing session and were sworn into office on Wednesday, March 13, at the Agriculture Building in Lumberton. The Robeson County School Bond Election is a vote for or against the issuance of $2,000,000 school building bonds and the levying of a tax sufficient for the payment thereof. It does NOT require new registration.

Voters now on the county registration books will NOT need to re-register in order lo vote on the county bond issue. For instance, a person who voted in the presidential election or in the 1962 democratic primary or ihe general election in November 1962 is already registered. Anyone who has moved into the county since the November election would be required to appear in person before the proper registrar and take the registration oath prescribed by N. C. law in order to vote on the county bond issue.

LUMBEUTON In Lumberton the situation is somewhat different. Only citizens living within the city-limits of the City of Lumberton will be eligible to vote in the Lumberton School District Bond Election. This will be a vole for or against the issuance of 81,800,000 schoor bonds and the levying of a sufficient tax for the payment thereof. Citizens who -live within the city limits and wish to vote on this issue MUST register. County precinct lines will be followed in this election and county polling places will be used.

County precinct election officials will conduct both the Lumberton School District Bond Election and tjie Robeson County School Bond Election. Not only must all citizens of Lumberlon register for the Lumberton School Bond Election, but newcomers to the city who have not previously registered for a state or county election who desire to vote on' both the county and the city bond issue MUST register on both registration books. The same registrars will serve for both elections in Lumberton; therefore, a person may register for both elections at the same time. Qualifications for registration require residence in the State of North Carolina for one year, in the precinct for thirty days. A registrant must be a citizen of the U.S., and twenty-one years of age.

Registrants must read and sign the registration oath in the presence of the registrar. No registration may be accomplished by telephone nor may a husband cgister for his wife or a wife for her husband. Books will be opened for the registration of voters at 9 A.M. on Saturday at all county polling places. Books will close at sunset on Saturday, April 6th.

No one may register after that dale. Challenge Day will be on April Kith, 9:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Thre will be no absentee ballots for either of these elections. Registrars and polling places for the City of Lumberlon and Lumberlon Township are: Precinct 1, Mrs.
