When extra shifts of workmen are employed, there shall be no specified hours of starting and finishing for any shift. They shall not however, exceed eight (8) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week in the case of qualified tradesmen, hod carriers, construction boilermakers' helpers and apprentices and nine (9) hours per day, firty-five (45) hours per week in the case of common labourers.

Such extra shifts of workmen shall be paid a premium of five (5c) cents an hour above the regular rates. IX. IV. In all trades where any other material is erected in place of the regular and recognized commodity such as, for instance, a glass brick for a brick of clay or shale, the appropriate trade wage rate per hour shall apply. VI. In the event that the apprentice shall fail to present himself for each examination his apprenticeship book shall be held null and void. After such examination he shall be supplied with a new apprenticeship book which shall establish and verify his annual progress. XVII.

Use of helpers: a) The total number of helpers employed shall not exceed the number of mechanics on any job, except that the employers may use as many helpers as best suits their convenience, under the direction of a mechanic in working old plants, hoisting material and on foundation work. b) When removing old and installing cables in existing elevator installations, the employer may use two helpers to one mechanic. 12. Inspection: All inspection of elevators, dumbwaiters, etc. designated under subsection 2 of this! section (Classification of Work) must be made by a journeyman.

13. Rates are effective upon the coming into force of the decree on all contracts without exception. I 14. Definitions: a) Construction work is hcrebv defined as work performed in the erection and assembly of all apparatus enumerated in subsection 2, also the demolition of same.
