MANXMAN ARRIVES IN PORT Steel for Montreal From Barrow Saveral Boats Due Today-Movements of Snips. The strike of the Ship-Liners' Union, local No. .413, was settled amicably between the companies and the union.

At their meeting on Monday night the Bhip liners decided to make reparation for the time lost by doing all in their power to furnish all the labor necessary if the companies will notify the agent or representative of the union, thus ensuring satisfaction and justice for the companies. These men alone made up a large proportion of the workers who relumed to the wharves yesterday morning. Altogether about 3,500 men returned to work, including dock laborers, ship liners, checkers, coopers and ehed men. There was no demonstration, the men quietly proceeded to their work as if nothing had happened. One of the curious features of the day was the reluctant manner exhibited by the non-union men to go to work with the others in the morning.

However, as the day wore on and nothing occurred to intimidate those who had the courage to go to work the rest returned In batches. The only trouble was that though in the morning there were enough teams to combat with the output from the steamers, the experienced 'labor when once began put out more car-g-o than the working, teamsters could liandie. AU the men seen contended that matters have been settled, and expressed themselves glad to be at wrj os they had got tired of doing nothing and putting up with the inconveniences which they had suffered. RAILWAY COMMITTEE Several Bills Under Consideration Yesterday. Ottawa, May 12 (Special).

The House of Commons Committee on Railways, Canals and Telegraph Lines took nap first, as one order, the bills of the iJrockville Western, the Drocikvllle Northwestern, and the Brockvllle Stuult St. Manle Railway companies.
