Bob Flock, winner of the 75-mile main event race at Greenville, S. was a definite entry today in the North Wilkesboro Speedway's $2,050 stock car auto race scheduled for Sunday afternoon at North Carolina's newest half-mile dirt track. Flock, who holds the world's 100- mile stock car record, will be driving the famed No.

14, considered the fastest stock car in the world today. It was good enough to set a new world's record over the 75- lap grind at Greenville Sunday, bringing his total prize winnings for the year near (he $2,500 mark. Incidentally, the Greenville win put the Atlanta, daredevil in first place in the national point standings which will determine the United States stock car driver championships. Flock has 220 points to his credit, including 200 points for last Sunday's race and his win at Daytona Beach, in March when he set his world's record. But he will be hard put to defend his laurels at Wilkes Sunday, for pressing him in the first three races are Ed Samples, 1946 champion, and Red Byron, considered the canniest of them all.

Each of the latter two has 190 points. Byron, a war hero who lost practically all the use of his left leg when struck in the hip by the fragment of a Japanese antiaircraft shell, is currently the hottest man on the circuit. In his last five starts, he whas won four times and finished second at Greenville. Scoffs School To Give Play The mascots of the senior class of Scotts, little Ann Holt Sherrill and Steve Staples, entertained 45 or more of the graduates at a party at the Sherrill home on the Taylorsville road. Mrs.

Harold Hedrick, home room teacher of the class, and Mr. Hedrick were additional guests. The Sherrill home was decorated in blue and white, the class colors. and red roses, the class flower. In (he dining room, where ice cream, cakes and salted nuts were, served with punch, candles were used for lighting.

The punch bowl was surrounded by ivy. Games were enjoyed, both on the lawn and in the house. Contest winners were David Sides and Shirley Little. By 9-6 Score Statesville high school's Grey hounds yesterday afternoon came from behind to hand Coach Wilburn Clary's Children's Home nine its first defeat of the season in South Piedmont conference com petition, dumping the orphanage in a game played at high school stadium. The Home jumped to a four run lead in the first inning on a series of bad breaks for the local team but Statesville came back to score two in the iirit, two in the third, one in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the eighth.

The Methodists added one in the sev enth and one in the ninth. The heavy stickwork of Bill McLain, substitute Statesville out fielder, highlighted the local of fensive. McLain drove in four runs, garnering two singles and double in his efforts. Dave Pierce also had a good afternoon, slapping two for three. After a rocky first inning.

Gene Smith was in full control, striking out five men and scattering nine hits. He walked six. Coach Clary, unused to the loser's role and obviously unpleased by it all, jerked Sprinkle in the sixth frame, brought Henry in from left field to do the pitching and finally switched Poole from catcher to pitcher in a vain effort to halt the Greyhounds. It was victory No. 6 for Coach Herb Sampsel's crew, bringing them up to the .500 mark.

The Greyhounds play at Mooresville today, returning home Monday for a game with the Moors. The season ends Tuesday with Chil dren's Home at Winston-Satem.
