Mini-grants received Three mini-grants have been awarded Lincoln University student-faculty teams for research by Dr. William K. Barnett, director of the Lincoln University Institute for Social Research and project director of the National Science Foundation Minority Institution Science Improvement Program. The grants will not exceed $150 per project.

The projects funded are: "Bonnots Mill: A Case Study of Changing Land Use." The study is to investigate and document the pattern of changing land use and factors contributing to the change process in Bonnots Mill, a Missouri Community which has declined in economic importance with the decline of barge and railroad use and the increase of highway construction. Shashi Krishna, geography' instructor, and William Thompson, student, are project investigators. Black Nespaper: A Medium for Expressing Blacks' Socio-Cultural Objectives as Exemplified by its Editorial Content." The research will study how the black press, in its editorial programs and policies, tends to mold and guide the social, moral, political, ethical and economic opinions of its readers. Project investigators are Dr. Arnold G.

Parks, associate professor of sociology: and Sandra Franklin and Reba V. McDonald, students. "The Sino-Soviet Rift." The research will focus on the rift between the Chinese and the Russians emphasizing ideological similarities and differences, the causes and effects of the split, and implications for third-world developing states. Project investigators are Dr. Stephen Chen, acting head of the political science department, and Cedric Webster.

Society founded The National Geographic Society was founded in 1888 "for increasing and diffusing geographic knowledge and promoting research and exploration." student. Reports on the three research projects are due June 15. Elected Yvonne W. Hoard, Lincoln University director of women's athletics, has recently been elected secretary of the Missouri Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (MAIAW). The organization consists of 32 colleges and universities of Missouri which have women's athletics programs.

MAIAW fosters broad programs of women's intercollegiate athletics on the state, regional and national level which are consistent with the educational aims and objectives of member schools. Programs initiated also must be in accordance with the philosophy and standards of the of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, the national body. Hoard formerly served as secretary to the Missouri Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation and as a board member of the Jefferson City YMCA. She presently serves as a board member of the Cole County unit of the American Cancer Society. Teacher's Fair A Teacher's Fair will be sponsored by the Ljncoln University placement and cooperative education service from 9 a.m.

to 3:30 p.m. Friday in the University Center ballroom. The fair gives Lincoln University's education majors an opportunity to explore future employment possibilities with representatives of many school systems. All Lincoln University students and alumni are invited. School systems scheduled to participate are: Mexico, New Bloomfield, Columbia, Waynesville, Ferguson- Florissant and Cape Girardeau.

Flight attendants' vote reported Banquet Lincolrt University's senior class of 1977 will pay tribute to faculty and staff who have helped them during their four years at Lincoln with a banquet at 6 p.m.

Sunday April 3, in the Lincoln University Center. The seniors will present an award to the "Faculty Member of the Year" first, second and third place winners as voted by, the students. Lincoln University campus organizations will present gifts of appreciation to their faculty advisors. Talent show A talent show to raise funds for the National Sickle Cell Anemia Campaign will be sponsored by Lincoln University's Chapter of Omega Psi Phi social fraternity, at 9 p.m. Thursday, March 31, in Richardson Auditorium. Lincoln University faculty and students and local talent are invited to participate in the show. The Missouri State Penitentiary Band will be among the performers. Fund-raising for the Sickle Cell Anemia Campaign is a national effort by Omega Psi Phi.

The Lincoln University chapter will work with the other chapters in District Eight to reach a goal of $5,000. The chapter will take the talen show to the Missouri State Penitentiary and Renz Farm after the Benefit. KANSAS CITY (AP) Local officials have announced that flight attendants with Trans World Airlines have voted to affiliate with the new Independent Federation of Flight Attendants Union (IFFA). The election was supervised by the National Mediation Board and was concluded late Tuesday in Washington. Officials said the attendants voted 2,549 to 1,682 to leave the Transport Workers Union Local 551 and affiliate with the IFFA.

Spokesmen for the attendants and the airline stressed that the change in union representation would not affect TWA operations. The flight attendants will continue tc work under a contract negotiated last summer with the Transport Workers until it can be amended on July 31,1978.
