NO. 244 WINDOWS IN PASSING TRAINS Two Youths Arrested and Admitted Guilt of Dangerous Practice CITY AND DISTRICT NEWS Man Who Failed to Register Was Fined Maximum of $100-Shooting Incident on Street Two youths were arrested yesterday by constables from the police station on Craig street east, charged with breaking windows in the Canadian Pacific Railway cars by throw.ng stones at them as they passed Bellerive square on their way from the Place Viger station to Mile End. The company complained to the city authorities and the arrests followed, prisoners being taken untie, Juvenile Court, where they pleaded guilty.

Hartois, who claimed that he was a federal police officer, admitted the accusation and explained that he was intoxicated at the time. A fine of $100 or one month in jail Macksthe sentence yesterday given by to Recorder Charles Semple. Jackson, a colored man, was charged with not having registered as provided by law and was arrested several days ago by Sergeant Beauvals. He was fined fie maximum provided by the law. DOCTOR VICTIM OF "FLU." Dr. William Halpenny, one of the doctors of the Royal Victoria Hospital, died early this morning from pneumonia.

Dr. Halpenny had been ill a few days. He had been some time with the hospital, and lost a leg in a collision between the ambulance and a street car a year ago. SEEKS UNIFORM RATES Civic Board Wants Change in Express Deliveries In order to secure the delivery of express parcels at uniform rates all over Montreal, the Administrative Commission has decided to address a communication to the Railway Commission with the request that existing regulations be modified accordingly. "The new district," says the resolution adopted by the commission, "in which express companies shall be required to call for and deliver parcels, shall comprise territory within the present city limits, and where no such service exists." OBITUARY RECORD Mr. Noe Bourassa. The death of Noe Bourassa, 74 years of age, 28 Visitation street, occurred yesterday morning after a long illness. Mr.

Bourassa was head of the butcher firm of that name at Bonsecours market. Mr. Bourassa had been over 50 years in business in Montreal. He is survived by two sons and two daughters. The funeral will take place from St.

Peter's church tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. Octogenarians Better Rev. Dr. Robert Campbell, senior clerk of the General Assembly, who has been suffering for the past month from A recurrent complaint, was reported yesterday to be convalescent and, progressing quite satisfactorily. Mr.

Walter Paul, who has also been on the sick list, was able to get down to business yesterday for di short time. Canadian Pacific Railway Account Thanksgiving Day, special train will leave Ste. V. Easterbrook on List For Second Time; Pte. R. Delcourt Died at Camp Borden A private cable was received by Mrs. Charles Iles, Summerhill avenue, yesterday morning, stating that her son-in-law, Capt.

O. R. Harvey, had been wounded in the face. Capt. Harvey went overseas with one of the universities reinforcing companies to the Princess Pats as a private.

He was awarded his lieutenancy on the field in the summer of 1917, and was transferred to the Canadian Engineers He was promoted to the rank of captain last August. He is 26 years of age. His wife is at present living at Hazel- mere, Surrey, Eng. PTE. J.

SHEPHERD. Pte. John Shepherd, who died of wounds at the 30th Casualty ClearStation on September 29th, enlisted in a Montreal unit last November. after trying several times to enlist in the early part of the war, being rejected each time owing to ill health. He trained with the 20th Reserve Battalion at Bramshott, and was sent to a Highland battalion from Montreal about a month ago.

He was at Halifax with his hE battalion at the time of the disaster, and rendered assistance to the injured and distressed. He was born at Barbadoes, B.W.I, 31 years ago. Before joining the army he was employed by the Northern Electric Company. His parents reside at 152 Selby street, Westmount. His only brother, Gunner Herman Shepherd, has been on active service years.

PTE. P. J. LAMB. Pte.

Peter J. Lamb, who was killed in action on September 23rd, went overseas with a Canadian Army Service Corps unit from Toronto in December, 1916, but later transferto an infantry battalion at the front. He was born at Montreal 27 years ago. Before going overseas he was on the advertising staff of the Imperial Tobacco Company, Limited. He is a son of Mr.

and James Lamb, of 52 De la Roche street. LIEUT. W. KEITH NELLES. Private advices received in Montreal state that Lieut.

W. Keith Nelles was slightly wounded in the left leg during the recent heavy fighting. Lieut. Nelles went overseas with the 245th Grenadier Guard Battalion as a captain, but reverted to the rank of lieutenant on being transferred to another Grenadier Guard unit at the front. He is 29 years of age, and to answering the call of the colors was in business with his father, Mr.

J. W. Nelles. His wife resides at 32 McGregor street. LIEUT.

A. J. EASTERBROOK. Lieut. Archibald J.

Easterbrook, son of Mrs. J. S. Rennie, of 24 Third avenue. Viauville, who was admitted to the 5th British Red Cross Hospital, Wimereux, on October 1st, wounded in the leg, went overseas at the outbreak of war with the P.P.C.L.I as a sergeant.

He was awarded his commission on the field early this year. He was wounded in the neck by shrapnel last year. He is 36 years of age, and before answering the call of the colors was employed in the C.P.R. offices at Moose Jaw. His wife and one child are at present residing in Scotland.

PTE. R. DELCOURT. Pte. Raoul Delcourt, who died at the hospital at Camp Borden last Friday from bronchial pneumonia, joined the Montreal French-Canadian Depot battalion last May.

Aftruining at Valcartier, was sent to Camp Borden in September. He was born at Montreal, and was 23 years of age. Before joining the army he was employed by the Redmond Company, Limited, Inspector street, His widowed mother lives at 414 Duluth avenue east. PTE. W.

SHERIDAN. Pte. Walter Sheridan, who was admitted to the 4th General Hospital. Dannes Camiers, on September 28th, wounded for the fourth time, went overseas with the 23rd Reserve Battalion, but later transferred to a 1st Contingent unit at the front. He is 24 years old, and before going overseas was employed by E.

J. Quinn, grocer. His mother lives at 322 Lagauchetiere street west. His father returned home recently from the front, and two of his brothers have made the supreme sacri- fice. DRIVER W.

BAKER. Driver William Baker, who was admitted to the 4th General Hospitall, Dannes Camiers, on September 29th. suffering from gunshot wound In the right leg, went overseas with a Montreal Heavy Artillery unit in May, 1915, but was transferred to another battery of, artillery at the front. He is 24 years of age and before enlisting was employed at the Point St. Charles shops of the Grand Trunk Railway.

His parents reside at 251 Union His father and one of his brothers have returned home from the front, and another brother is still on active service. PTE. C. PLANTE. COL C.

R. E. WILLETTS, D. S. O.

Pte. Charles Plante, who adm mitted to the 4th General Hospital, Dannes Camiers, on September 28th suffering from a gunshot wound in leg, went overseas with the French -Canadian battalion under the command of Lt. -Col. Barre, and was transferred to another battalion at the front. He is 21 years old, and before joining the army was employed at the Angus shops of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

His parents live at 1242 Chabot street. His brother. Sergt. Romeo Plante, was wounded during the battle of Courcellette, and is now an instructor on in one of the camps in England. town.

LANCE CORP. H. L. PEARD. Lt.

-Col. C. R. Willetts, D. S.

commanding officer of the Royal Canadian Regiment at the front, whose name appeared in the casualty list a few days ago as wounded, is a half brother of Mr. W. T. Whitehead, of 99 Crescent street, Montreal. Lt.

-Col. Willetts is a graduate of the Royal Military College at Kingston. graduating just previous to the outbreak of the Boer War, for which he immediately volunteered. At the conclusion of that campaign he remained in South Africa for some time on service, putting in five years here altogether. On returning to Canada he became an officer in the Royal Canadian Regiment, permanent force, and went to France with that unit as senior major.

He was promoted to command the battalion a year ago, and at the same time awarded the D. S. O. Information received here is that Lt. -Col.

Willetts was wounded in both and is now in No. 3 London Hospital, Wandsworth, London. He is of the Rev. Dr. Willetts.

G. ROWELL. Gunner Gorion G. R. Rowell, who was admitted to the 22nd Casualty Clearing Station, on September 27, suffering from gunshot wounds in the left foot and right leg, went' overseas with the battery of field artillery recruited in Montreal by Major Brock in September, 1916.

He is 21 years old. and previous to joining the army was employed in the offices of the Imperial Tobacco Company, Limited. SEALED TENDERS will be received by undersigned until noon, October 21st. 1918, for the grinding and bagging of about 2,800 tons, more or less, linseed oil cake (slab form) now stored at this Department's warehouse at Montreal.
