Mail beins sent to prisoners of war in Europe has increased 16 per cent, compared with last year, the Wartime Information Board reported. In September. 1943, 27.878 letters were sent to German prison camps, while in the same month of 1944 32,302 pieces -nf mail were cleared. The total in October this year was 31,572.

While mail for prisoners increased in the months before Christmas it docs not correspond with the increase in civilian mail because, at the request of the prisoners, Christmas cards with the exception of one sent by the Prime Minister, are not handled.
