Mount Pleasant Council Ponders Sewage Program MOUNT PLEASANT The view Neilan Engineers, Somerset, is apparently handicapping this borough in its law suit regarding sewage disposal was brought to Borough Council's attention Monday. Edward F. btefi, borough M'U- citor, said he had been advised as to possibility of the state dismissing its action against the borough providing the revised progress schedule be adhered to strictly. This called for plans for lateral sewers to be submitted to Sanitary Water Board officials by last Friday. Delay in doing this was brought Stefl's attention that same day in a telephone conversation with Ron Rornesburg of the Neilan organization.

Romesburg informed him there was a delay but the plans should be submitted today or Wednesday. Also being delayed by Neilans is filing of applications for Federal grants, said having been filled in by council last Sept. 12. Council passed a regulation calling for borough residents to identify their garbage cans by painting their names on the sides and lids. This action followed a quest for help in dealing with apartment dwellers, termed by Harry Overly of Overly's City Refuse "one of our biggest problems." Local residents are to paint their names on sides and lids of their garbage cans.

Lettering is to be two inches or higher. The new regulation, termed a "reasonable" one by Stefl, is labeled section two of Ordinance 333, the so-called garbage ordinance. All applications for patrolman in the borough Police Department were rejected and it was agreed to readvertise with some date later in the year to be set for examinations. This came after Glenn Jaquette, chairman, said the police committee "could not recommend" any of the six men Arrest Suspect- In Area Burglary Paul Bileck, 18, of Uniontown, was arrested Saturday in connection with the bnrslarv of HIP na Theatre, Homestead, on Sept. 29.

Federal approval to move the radio equipment from Frick Community Hospital remains for tha transfer to take place. Jaquette said this likely would take place sometime in November. Council look action to prepare the room by authorizing it be cleaned and painted and approving a request to furnish it with desk, chair and other necessary furnishings. James Smith wrote and appeared in person regarding an alley by his service station at 101 North Daimond St.

It is about 10 feet wide and from 50 to 60 feet in length and impassable. This is to be studied by the committee for a recommendation. The borough engineer is to survey the Cort Ave. area to determine the borough's responsibility and a solution to the parking problem there. Thus was brought to council's attention in an appearance by Angelo Linardi.

Borough inquiry brought forth a letter from Potter-fMcCune Co. that the and 0 Railroad is now ready to proceed with sale of the abandoned railroad property adjoining the company's East Main St. building. A state official is to be brought in to investigate the sewage problem at the bakery on North Church St. Charles Lentz, sewer committee chairman, said there is a strong odor from there and sewage easily visible which is attracting rats.

Dean Gilbert of Anderson and Gilbert, Greensburg, is to confer with the finance committee regarding more satisfactory, speedier means of handling earned income (wage) tax refunds. Charles Cronin, finance committee chairman, said the borough is now "pretty good shape" financially and should end the year with the budget pretty well balanced.
