T. railway, in speaking of the improvements of the road, says heavier steel is being relaid on account of the heavy traffic. The steel substituted for the 52-pound is 63-pouna, Heavy steel has been relaid from Nevada to Hiatyille, also seyenteen miles north of Nevada and heavy steel from Sedalia to three miles south of Clinton. The relaying ot steel has been completed on the southern division from Muskogee to Denison, 163 miles. Considerable rock ballest has been put in.

It is the intention ot the company to relay the entire line with heavy steel. Roadmaster RocKwell expects a new invoice ot steel ii October, when the work ot relaying wiii be commenced, Miss Minnie Mears, assisted by her pupils, gave a recital at the residence of H. McCormick Saturday evening Sept. 26. The programme consisted of vocal and instrumental music.

Miss Pearl Hurst of Girard, surprised and delighted the audience by reciting several selections, which were highly appreciated. Miss Mamie Walker and Master Earl Quarrels received the gold medals tor complying with their teacher's wishes in practicing two hours a day. Taken as a whole the entertainment was a success, and Miss Mears and her pupils deserve much credit. J. W.
