PAGE FOURTEEN THE DAILY COURIER, CONNELLSVILLE, PA, SATURDAY, MAY 22, 1971 Hobby Happiness COINS: Cyrus Commemorative By PAUL J. WEIS Copley News Service beautiful commemorative representing a new high A coin denomination for Cyprus has been announced. It is being struck by the Royal Mint and is being issued conjunction with a program established by the Food and Agriculture Organization, United Nations agency. Utilizing the theme of agriculture, FAO has given birth to this numismatic issue in order to create awareness and i i agriculture development throughout world. Dozens of nations are already participating in this program with unique and inter- estin" coin issues from all over the world.

An ancient motif has been adopted for the design of the new Cyprus coin of 500 mils. Cyprus, whose history can be traced to many hundreds ot years before Christ, illustrates part of her ancient heritage on this issue dated 1970. On the obverse side of this 509-mils coin appears the double cornucopia from the ancient Cyprus coin of Ptolemy (271245 B.C.)'. The reverse of this unusual coin depicts a youth holding a basket of fruit. This fascinating design comes from a mosaic in a village of northern Cyprus from the 2nd Century A.D.

In accord with this almost motif is the fact that this coin, unlike modern issues, is without a rim, recalling the hand-hammered coin specimens of the ancient Greek empire This unusual Cyprus coin is found in an i a i a 1 collection of 36 different coins from 26 individual countries. The official issue price for this complete set is $51.50, which can-to-be-issued crown proof includes the custom coins from Brune and Bulgaria. leatherette album. (UPD- The Vietnam Veterans Peace Chapel sits on a hill in the lush Moreno Valley of Northern Mexico. Anchored on one wal of the chapel is a plaque flanked by photographs of 13 soldiers killed in So'ittheas Asia. The inseriptiom on the plaque reads: "If we are to stand on our feet in fche presence of God what then is one man that he should debase the dignity of another?" The lines were written by Victor David Westphall IPI, a Marine lieutenant killed in 196i when his platoon was ambushec in Vietnam. On Saturday, the third anniversary of his death, the chapel built by his father with fche help of flower children will be dedicated. On hand for the ceremonies 20 miles north of Taos will be John winner of the "liver Star and three Purple Hearts and a spokesman for the National Vietnam Veterans Against the War.

Victor Westphall began build- ng the chapel soon after the death of his sen. The final plans took only 15 minutes to sketch, according to the building's architect, Ted Luna of Santa Fe. During the three years of construction, the contractor to charge Wesphall for mving to replace one of the walls, which soar like gulls' vings to a 70-foot high apex. Workers included "hippies irom all over the country," Luna "said. The chapel walls upward over the front entrance.

Ian another report Thursday, the Commerce Department said Americans, their government and their businesses were in debt by a record of $1.84 trillion by the end of 1970.
