Bray said .today he is "sure that Russia is not going to attack" this country. "But I was equally sure," Bray toid a Governor's Civil Defense Conference, "that Japan was not going to attack Pesirl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941." Bray was an earfy speaker as the conference opened in the World War Memorial. The 7th District congressman, •who returned recently from a round-the-world trip as a member of the House Military Affairs Committee, said some people believe that because of the world situation Amricans must be either "rabbits or moles"—able to run into a bomb shelter very quickly or operate entirely underground. Bray said he did not think this was true. But he said it is up to local officials who administer the civil defense program to provide adequate defense agains* any attack. .-• . ••..'•• State Adj. CHICAGO (UP) — A teen-age sex slayer Tuesday night described how he bludgeoned a young gi.rl with a rolling pin, then went to work with the instrument the following day at his father's bakery. Robert M. Fleig, 17, gave a detailed description of the murder of Mary Lou Wagnei, l/i. several hours after -a nerve - shattering scene at'the county morgue where he was forced lo stare at his victim's body. The youth was questioned several times before he quailed at the prospect of taking a lie de- tector test Monday night. Then, he. confessed. ; Pathologist Dr. Victor Levine, however, disputed the details of the slaying, the ferocity of ivlu'cft •indicated more 'than one person was involved. Fleig was brought to the county morgue, weeping openly as he looked upon Mary Lou's! battered face. Police prevented him from burying his face in his jacket and demanded to know who his accomplice was. Screaming "Take me out of here," Fleig identified Ervin (Mississippi) Boling, 20, as hi. partner in crime. He later withdrew the identification, saying "I would have done anything to ge; out of there." Police questioned Boling but said there was nothing lo indicate he was implicated in the slaying. Boling had been in police custody since Monday night when he told officers he saw Fleig and Mary Lou shortly before her disappearance Friday night.
