LIND Courier Managing Editor The collection of Fayette County taxes has been taken away from city treasurers of Connellsviile and Uniontown. As one of their last otiicia' acts of 1970, the county commissioners removed the right to collect county real estate taxes in the two cities from the treasurers of those cities and gave the duty to county treasurer Nicholas Kornick.

Commisioner Fred L. Lebder said he hoped the move would save the county about $14,000 in salaries the county pays as its share for salaries in the too city offices. The commissioners made the move only after assurance that the county office could do the work without adding additional help. On two previous occasions the move was killed at the last moment. However, in their last meeting of 1970, the vote was unanimous. i i Frank L. Malinzak made the motion. It was seconded by Edward L.

Sittler Jr. In seconding the Sittler said he was doing so only with the understanding that no extra employes, except a part-time girl for two months, would be added to the county office. He said he felt the move from the city offices to the county office would ''result in I much better collection of county' taxes in the city of Connells-j ville."
