He did not give the cause of death. Ms.

SKOKIE, IL 60076 708679-3939 TALK TO EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE Columnist Antoinette Toni Gale' O'Gorman By Kenan Heise Michael Triolo, 82, a former Golden Gloves lightweight boxing champion, was director for more than 30 years of the Catholic Youth Organization boxing programs. A resident of the Ashburn Estates neighborhood, he died at home Tuesday. "Boxing," he once told a Tribune reporter, "does not produce bullies." Youths who came into the CYO gym at 1 140 W. Jackson Blvd. with a chip on their shoulder often left with their tails between their legs, he said.

"A great amount of their determination," he said, "comes from being hungry and in poverty." Teams that Mr. Triolo organized won more than a dozen Golden Gloves championships. He himself was the 1930 north section Golden Gloves champion. During World War II, he was a sergeant and a trainer in the Marine Corps in Camp Miramar, Calif. There he developed a team that won all eight of its matches with civilian and service opponents.

He was the physical education and boxing instructor for the Mission of Our Lady of Mercy before being appointed CYO boxing director in 1954. The CYO Center he directed was the training headquarters for heavyweight champions Floyd Patterson and Cassius Clay, before the latter changed his name to Muhammad Ali. Young men in his program, he once pointed out, have wound up "from mayors to murderers." Survivors include two daughters, Virginia and Mary; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W.

Belmont Ave. Mass for Mr. Triolo will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 6969 W.

Addison St. FUNERAL DIRECTOR, LTD. By Kenan Heise Antoinette "Toni Gale" O'Gorman, 66, a proofreader and copy editor, worked during the 1940s and 1950s as a newspaper columnist in Cicero and then from 1966 to 1988 for Playboy Enterprises Inc. A resident of Wheaton, she died Tuesday in the home of her daughter, Karen Carlson, in St. Charles.

In high school, Mrs. O'Gorman started writing for the Cicero Life and Suburban Life, becoming a columnist under the pen name "Toni Gale." As her high school classmates were drafted or joined the military during World War II, she interviewed each of them and kept copies of the material. A number of them were killed in action. Meeting with their families after they had been told of their son's death, she worked with them and used the interview material to write a lengthy obituary for each. "She often said it was the most meaningful thing she ever did," her daughter, Kay McKeen, said.

In 1966, she joined HMH Publishing, later Playboy Enterprises, as a proofreader and copy editor. Her job was to copy edit books that Playboy published and to proofread corporate materials and documents. "She worked on books, encyclopedias and a variety of other publications," her daughter said. "She was incredibly precise." For the last three years, she worked as a free-lance proofreader. Survivors, besides her daughters, include: a son, Richard; three grandchildren; and a sister.
