Chuck Monie of Farmington suffered his first loss since the Ste. Genevieve Tournament to Kevin Nowell 6-2 in the 126-pound division. Tom Medelberg won by forfeit in the 132-pound weight class since Matt Amsden could not make weight. Amsden and Medelberg did wrestle an exhibition match in which Amsden won 7-3.

Kevin McCulley of Farmington was shut out up to the pin put on him by his opponent, Gaylon Couch, another good looking wrestler. Couch won the fall after 2:54 of wrestling in the 145-pound match. Linzie Umbert picked up a fall on Larry Koon, who has had a difficult time this year with opponents.

Koon faced John Mabery of Central twice in less than a week's time and ByDanMcFarland Daily Journal Sports Writer "Stunk," coach Ron Jack said after Farmington was beaten by the Sikeston Bulldogs on their home mats last night. "We wrestled pitifully, and we get worse each week," Jack said. Sikeston won both the junior varsity and varsity matches. Junior Varsity by a score of 36-32 and Varsity 47-14. Mark Blanton of Sikeston pinned Andy Amsden of Farmington in their 98-pound bout in 1:33.

Tony Delarosa, the Bulldogs' Impounder, was beating Mike McGee of Farmington 12-0 at the time of his pin. Harold Myrick, one of Sikeston's stronger wrestlers, narrowly defeated Nat Tiggs in their 119-pound match. Tiggs suffered an then Lambert, who pinned him in the second period of their 155-pound bout. Bill Matthews of Farmington wrestled his first match since the Ste.

Hansen was trailing in the match 8-7 when the fall occured. Russell Beah of Sikeston beat, Joe Hahl by a pin in 3:06.

The match was a good moving one for heavyweights as Beah sewed it up for Sikeston. Farmington junior varsity wrestlers suffered a similar fate when they won only four of 11 matches. Gary Godwin won in the 98-pound class. In the 132-pound class, Jim Krause won by a major decision 14-3. Scott Lawson picked up the last points for the Knights in the' heavyweight division when he won by a first period pin.

"We were off school again, that gave them all day to eat and then they had to run it off. We can't get everyone to practice," Jack said, frustrated. Sports Journal Area sports calendar FRIDAY: Basketball: Farmington v. Potosi, Potosi 6:30 p.m. Central v.

Louis Cardinals from losers to playoff caliber in two years, has had his contract with the club extended through 1980, it was announced today. Coryell, who came to the Cardinals from a successful collegiate career at San Diego State, had a 4-9-1 club the first year, but won the NFC championship the next two seasons and missed the playoffs in 1976 despite a 10-4 record against tough opposition. The club said the contract extension was actually negotiated before last season but never officially announced. "I don't know why we never got around to announcing it a year ago," Coryell said, "except that we were getting ready to open the season and, shoot, to me, that was more important than letting anybody know how the boss felt about me." Down by three points with less than one minute to play, 6-5 junior forward Hunter Stiegemeyer scored in a pair of field goals to put the Indians in front to stay with 18 seconds remaining in the contest. Commenting upon Stiegemeyer's effort, Williams said, "You do what you gotta do when it's gotta be done, Hopefully, the rest of the kids will learn from Hunter." In a brilliant performance Cagle scored 24 points to lead the Indians in scoring.

The all-MIAA prospect also paced the Indians in rebounding and assists with nine rebounds and seven assists. Against the Bulldogs of Northeast Missouri State University on Jan. 15, the Indians dropped their conference opener 82-73 in a Contest much closer than the score indicated.
