In the re-canvass of the vote for tax collector in South Union township, not a single discrepancy was discovered and Raymond J. Hansel, incumbent, was declared by 21 votes over Tony Pushkarich. In the presence of President Judge W.

Russell Carr, the machines were opened in the county warehouse. The figures were identical with those recorded on the official return sheets. In the township, hundreds of men and women had not voted for either of the candidates and this gave rise to errors in transferring the totals from the machines to the official returns from which the official count was tabulated.
