These important documents were made public Just before Crown Prosecutor Rlddell concluded his three hours' examination of Percy Short yesterday afternoon. They were, in the possession of the defence, but Mr. Rlddell demanded that they be forfeited, and tha judge sustained hint in his demand when Mr. Fripp announced that he intended to use them in cross-examination.

The confessions cover a period of several months. Including the dates In which it is alleged Mrs. Bell committed the cruelties to her grandchildren. following is the last confession made by Percy. It was v.

If we had been truthful, and honest to yon us children would have been the happiest in the world." Made to Write It. After the reading of this document In court yesterday Mr. 'Rlddell aaked Percy If his grandmother really made hlra write such things as these about his father and mother. A Christmas letter from Percy to his grandmother told how "the devil within him" caused him to do many misdeeds such as poisoning his grind-mother's pet snlms.ls, all of which Percy says is a fabrication. The Devil was In Him.

This confession reads: Dec. 23. 1SS3. Grandma I wish to make a confession to you In writing. In the first place I must say you have been In every respect more than a mother to me and my little sister.

When our father and Mother gave us children to you to look after to be a mother and a friend to us, you did your duty nobly by always giving us a good home fcnd you used to pray with us and you taught ua to read and write and you learned ua bur Catechism and our prayers. Tou tried to have us to be good children by saying when you died we should have all your expensive things, your horse and harness and covered carriage and cutter and on painting of my mother's photograph, and sold watches and many other costly thing a Tou gave us plenty to eat and drink and wear, but all of this did not make us good children to you. The devil was in us to disobey you after all your kindness to us children I set a bad example for my little sister after ten yean. I am a boy of fourteen years and should be ashamed of my bad behaviour. Now I will tell you of some of my devilish pranks.

When you first brought me home I wanted ts have my own way and would do cruel things behind your back. Because you would not let me pound my baby sister and do other bad things to her. I took It In. my head to at.al everything oold get my Jianda on and destroy thlnga and to eat and drink all I ceud get inside of me. I even kicked your little pet dog Jeff, that you had for many years.

He was so little he could not help himself. I UfeJ to kirk blm and pound him and slap his little head and stick pins In his ears, throw him down the cellar. would go and kick him when he could not walk or stand on his fret, I would put htm out In the cold shed and leave him there until he was stiff with the cold. One day it was wsy down below sero. I picked him up and took him to the fire and rubbed him on the back of Jhe stove and then took the little pet up to grandma.

She asked me what kept me so long away. I told her I had to kindle the fire. That waa my excuse. Grandma and baby alster were sick In bed with la grippe. Then I took It in my head t.

kill the little dog one day. I beat him almost to death. I ran outdoors thinking it was dead, but the Lord ssved Its life till another time. Fo on day It came running up stairs and it ran by me, I up with my foot and kicked It with all my might until Its bowels began to protrude. That was on the fatal day; for it died In great agony.

Also 1 pullrd the feathers out of her little rsnarls I fed. poison wornyt to the birds." Talked of Poison. In another "confesalon" an attempt poison his grandfather and grandmother and to kill his sister Onelta is related. This confession Terry said was written In November and the facta it contains are, he said, untruths. HE VSED WORMS.

Fercy's Alleged Attempt to do Away With His Grandparents. It brains thus: "This is my confession Now, grandma. I am going to make you a confession of the wicked and cruel things that 1 have done since I came home from school. The first is I kicked grandma's little pet dog. Jumbo, the third or fourth day after I came home, and I also alapped it on Its lltt head many, times to make It lay still in Its little bed.

I stepped on its little toes and made it get out of my way. For the robin I used to get poison worms and feed It to him, and I would put my handa in the cage and pull the feathers out of his tall and wlngtJ To the bobolink I did the I stopped It from singing, and the pelly parrot I used to tease with my broom. I scared every one of grandma's birds, and even her little I thouj-ht it was Jeffy's little spirit. I also pounded the little thing with a stick I pounded its little nose, its neck and Its belly. I also pulled hairs out of its little tall and I would also steal its ruts out of Its cage.

i also tried to poison my grandfather and grandmother. I took one of those poison worms that I had teen giving robin and put it up the tap, and I thought that grandpa would think, it had com from the water. I waa going to put them In the tea kettle and then I thought the water wouM poison grandpa and grandma, and then I would be my own boss and do sl I liked. I would stuff and eat so much that I would make myself vied to pile my plates full enough ifor and little sister sick, and grandma t- THOSE WAR SHIPS EVERYWHERE. Building operations have interfered considerably the past season or two with the links near the rifle range, and this year a row of houses is to be erected on the best part of the playing ground. So the club are looking for new links. They have been offered grounds on the Chelsea read, about half a mile out of Hull. The grounds offered are Ideal for the sport, and clear.

The distance is the only drawback. But the club expect that a spur of the Hull Electric Railway will run out to Wright's quarry, and it is only a quarter of a mile from besides most of the members bicycles. So It is likely the tiew grounds, will be accepted. Along with the proposal of the new grounds is a scheme to open a country club house ar the links. A building- capitally auited for the purpose can be had in the old Brlgham house.

The Idea of the officers of the club, who are moving in tbe matter, if that the building will be fitted up as a club, with a resident Stewart and staff In charge, the same as at a city club the dub house to be the rendezvous for tbe golfers and their frienda In the evenlnzs dances would be held. The golfers think, the Ottawa Siding Club. the. Polo Club and similar organisations could be Induced to take part in the scheme and thus reduce the expense. The matter will likely come up formally at the neit meeting of the Golf Club.
