Plan No More Shipment Of Arms to Tunisia WASHINGTON (UP)—The United States has no immediate intention of sending any more guns to Tunisia, officials said today. Moreover, if and when . more arms shipments are planned, this country will consult first with France and also obtain new assurances from Tunisians the weapons will not fall into the hands of Algerian rebels. Although no hard and fast promises resulted from Tuesday's Conference of French Foreign Minister Christian Pineau and Secretary of State John Foster Dulles, Pineau apparently is going away in a happier frame of mind than he arrived in. Pineau Confident French officials said Pineau was confident he had succeeded in impressing upon Dulles the urgent need for limiting arms shipments to Tunisia. Pineau this morning had a meeting scheduled with Adlai K. Stevenson, the sate department's! special NATO adviser. Before leaving for New York, Pineau also planned to talk to- top U.S. defense officials, possibly on the deployment of American 1,500- mile ballistic missiles on the European continent. Dulles and Defense Secretary Neil H. McElroy said Tuesday the U.S. will start to send atomic missiles abroad at the end of next year or before mid-1959 McElroy said Britain would get them first. Dulles To Speak Stevenson, twice-defeated Dem- I ocratic presidential candidate,! was to fly to Chicago later today with Dulles, who is making an evening address to the Chicago Council o£ .Foreign Relations A State Department spokesman said Stevenson, who sat in during part of the three-hour Dulles-Pineau talk, was present only for matters dealing with the NATO conference next month for which he is helping the U.S. develop means to strengthen the allies against Russia's new missile danger. The Pineau-Dulies meeting, diplomatic sources said, succeeded in establishing working procedures for the U.S., Britain, France and, jTunisi$ to reach a solution toj healing the allied breach over the arms issue, ' | Read the Classified Ads Logansport, Indiana, Pharos-Tribuna Eleven SAINT OF FUERS-According to Vatican reports, Homan Catholic Church authorities are considering St. Joseph of Copertino, a 17th century Italian Franciscan friar, os a patron saint tor space travelers. (C, P. ) Says State Forests Up In Value INDIANAPOLIS (UP)—The Indiana Department of Conservation estimated today that Indiana's 13 state forests increase in value at the rate of $600,000 or $700,000 each year. The "growth increment value" increase estimate was made by Ralph F. Wilcox, state forester, as he announced that several thousand pine trees are being harvested this year from eight state forests and the Jasper-Pulaski game preserve for thinning and stand improvement cuttings. The trees will be sold wholesale to Christmas tree dealers throughout the state—but not at retail to individual buyers. Trees will come from Frances Slocum, Salamonie, Morgan-Monroe, Yellowwood, Jackson, Harrison, Martin and Selmier forests. None will be sold this year from Wells County Game Farm. Sale of trees from state forests for Christmas decoration started about 15 years ago. The peak sale was reached in 1955 when $18,000 was realized by the state.
