(AP) A 17-year-old Lander youth accused of the fatal stabbing of two teen-age classmates has been returned to the State Hospital in Evanston for two weeks of further psychiatric testing. The youth, Craig Sims, was ordered to the hospital Monday by Fremont County District Judge L. A. (Jack) Crofts. County Atty.

Dick Leedy had requested the further testing. Sims is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of DeeAnn Smith and Vicky Mather. Their bodies were found near Lander last April. They had been missing six months. Sims underwent a psychiatric Winds Spread Forest Fire LARAMIE, Wyo.

(AP)-A low-flying airplane knocked down a power pole one mile east -of Rock Springs, creating an obstacle on U.S. 30 that was hit by a truck. Nobody was injured in the accident Sunday. Authorities said the plane, piloted by George S. Shoaf, 42, of Saratoga, landed nearby.

The truck was driven by Norman G. Emmons, 35, of Fort Ind. The windshield of the truck was broken and downed wires became entangled in the truck's axles. (AP)-Sug-ar beet growers in Fremont County have received assurances there will be no shortage of railroad freight cars for the sugar beet harvest which begins in the county Wednesday. The agricultural manager of Holly Sugar Allen Edwards of Worland, said his firm has been promised cooperation in obtaining freight cars by both the Interstate Commerce Commission and the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. Edwards said the cars will be available this week when the county's six beet dumps are opened and the harvest gets under way.

Sugar beet growers and the Holly Sugar Co. had expressed concern last week that there might not be enough freight cars available to haul the sugar beets to processing plants in Worland and Torrington. Growers are expecting a bet-ter-than-average harvest this year. The harvest season will continue for about three weeks. (AP) The search for fr-year-old Mary Ann Rodriguez will resume this weekend near Glendo when the North Platte River is lowered for a second time. The river flow will be shut off at the Alcova Reservoir at midnight Tuesday, and will remain off for at least 48 hours and perhaps longer. Platte County sheriff's officers plant to continue a watch over the river near Glendo until the river level is lowered in that area sometime Friday.

The participants include expert mining, petroleum and economic geologists from 32 states and Canada. Monday the first day of the three-day session, the geologists traveled by bus to the Wind River Basin in central Wyoming to study surface geology formations. Tuesday, in the Shirley Basin, the group visited an open pit operation being developed by Petrotomics. Wednesday the geologists travel to the southern Powder River Basin in northeast Wyoming to inspect both uranium and oil formations. The registration chairman for the conference Larry Works of Casper said the annual meeting brings together some of the top mining and petroleum geologists in the country.

Works, who is employed by Gulf Oil in Casper, said the conference has some side benefits such as allowing people from different sections of the country to trade ideas on each other's successes.
