Heights Gets Water Station A modern Dumping station, built at 179th St. and Amsterdam Ave. at a cost of $863,000 to provide 60,000,000 gallons of water daily to 250,000 Washington Heights residents, was opened yesterday by the Department of Water Supply. The station is operated by electricity and replaces a steam station situated nearby on the banks of the Harlem River. The old station will be razed.
