Charles Weaver, chief of the Lemoyne Fire Department, said the blaze was headed toward fifteen oil tanks located on the field. Firemen checked the blaze within 100 yards of the tanks. Chief Weaver said he received a report that boys set the field on fire, and ran away.

An employe of the firm summoned the fire company.
