The story of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday has a dramatic character to stir emotions. It can be said that it Is a moving account, a great drama. However, these things are only the stage, the setting; they are not the central concern. Care must be exercised that the externals do not Detract from the central meaning of the Passion story which Paul emphasized to the Corinthians, "I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." STRUM- Immanuel Lutheran Church, worship, THE PURPOSE WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BAPTISM IN JESUS NAME? i Is It an outward sign of an Inward POSITIVELY NOW (This statement cannot be found anywhere In the Bible.) 2. The Purpose Is -TO REMIT SINSI1! Acts 2:38 Be baptized every ona of you In the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. ACTS 22:18 Be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on tht name of the Lord.

(JESUS Acts 22:8) LUKE 24:47 Remission of sins should be preached In His name. JOHN 20:23 How did the Apostles remit or wash away By baptizing repentant people in the name of Jesus Christ Acts 2:38. ACTS 10:6 48 He Commanded (absolute necessity) them to be baptized In the name ot the Lord. (JESUS Acts 9:5) "Except a man be bom of the water the Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God." Most Bible commentaries agree that water here refers to baptism. JOHN 3:5 See, Matthew-Henry, Adam Clark, Hist.

Christian Church, Walker, Catholic Oxford Dirt, of Church, Interpreters Diet, ol Bible, Temples Bible Diet. MARK 1 6:1 6 "He that believeth Is baptized shall be saved." Notice how Jesus places baptism In conjunction with salvation. 3. The blood of Jesus: There are two elements needed in order for sins to be washed away or remlttted. BLOOD This was Christ's part In washing away our sins.

Matt. 26:28 -My blood which Is shed for many lor the remission of sins. (Rev. 1:5, Heb. 9:22) WATER This Is our part (In obedience) to seeing our sins remitted.

Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized every one ol you in the name ol Jesus Christ for the remission of lins. It takes both water baptism and the blood of Jesus to remit sins, i John 5:6 This Is he that came by water and blood even Jesus Christ, not by water only, but by water and blood -1 John 5:8 Spirit, Water and the Blood, these three agree in one. Jesus' blood was the only thing that was needed then all sins would be gone and there wouldn't be one sinner In the world today. It takes both Christ's part and our part. Acts 22:16 and Rev.

6:4. ALLUDES TO THE MATTER OF BAPTIZING BY IMMERSION. An important faclor Is overlooked by the exponents ol sprinkling The original New Testament text and tha spoken language of that day was Greek. The authors of the New Teslament knew the Greek word "baptize" meant to Immerse. They also knew the Greek word "ranlizo" meant to sprinkle.

Those often used words were never Interchangeable, having separate meanings. II God had Intended foi His ministers to sprinkle, the Greek word "ranlizo" would have been employed, not "baptizo," II sprlnlking cannot be found In the Bible then you are practicing a tradition of man.
