Wlnn Dally Nwi 7, WEDNESDAY, JAN, 175 Winona, Minnesota I a To fhe editor 33 Tii pms yoy saw at JCPoei ft ftr :3 PI about early close-out for renewal project? How In the eveat that someone wishes to research the contlnu-ing debilitating effect of Winona's urban renewal program and what might be dor.c to get the city out of the morass In which tt now finds itself, here ere a few questions that could be put to Mayor Indall and to other officials of the city: Is it true tliat a total of $315,356 has new beea paid from the city's treasury to the federal government under the urban renewal contract? Has $1,953,889.68 now been expended on the program through Dec. 31, 1971 and is it continuing to cost approximately $3,000 per mouth simply to administer? And does 25 cents of every dollar spent to date and In the future becomo a direct obligation of the city, either to the federal government or as an amount that must be invested in the project areo-for a total of about $500,000 to date and with the city's share of the cost Increasing at close to $1,250 per month? If so, is there a way that the city could save approxl-matoly $175,000 under the contract by terminating it nw rather than continuing with more acquisitions and demolitions? And if it terminates the contract, might It also gel paid for Its one-fourth interest In the Morgan Block and other properties acquired with federal funds while still retaining control over their ultimate disposition? (See Public Law 9109, 213 Early Closeoul of Urban Renewal Projects). If the right questions are asked, the officials responsible may begin to real'ie the extent that they have permitted pub-lie money to be wasted cn this ill-fated venture and that the problem will be solved, not by bureaucracy, but rather by the total involvement of local talent and local investment. EVAN J. HENRY Marriage variations speech criticized It surprises ms and nauseates me to know there are such speakers allowed In our educational institutions as Robert Rimmer who spoke on his views of marriage variations Thursday night at Winona State College.

I am thankful to the writer of the article in Friday's Winona Daily News concerning this man's speech and making the public aware of what is going on. I cannot imagine anyone in his right mind promot'ng such relationships ns he suggests. Our marriages may have their problems, I'll admit, hut they would be considered 'heaven" compared with the results of any of the suggestions Mr. Rimmer had to offer. He said his views were not in conflict with religion.

Who is he trying to kid? (He must be talking about a religion that does NOT Include God) I think we had better take note and realize that here is a person who may be making a mint by writing his controversial books and his speeches, and a'so by movies from his books; but with the result of warping and ruining our young people's minds. I question his motives. Promoting or encouraging premarital sex, or living with a succession of roommates of the opposite sex, and by legalizing bigamy, group marriages, or triadic marriages would be like saying "anything is all right, or anything goes," and this will always be wrong, as far as I'm concerned, and it would also be against what was originally planned by God since the beginning of time. If one wants a good book to read concerning marriage or family life, he should read "The Christian Family" by Larry Christenson or go to the Bible and read all that it has to say concerning marriage and one would soon know what is right or wTong. I believe the "Day of the Lord" is coming socn, because the times are so evil.

This has been predicted over and over again in the Bible. MRS. CAROLYN NOKDBY Rushford, Minn. JjuAtwiLmmn QUALITY MEATS and Homemade SAUSAGE Phone 452-3450 119 East Third St. every day.
