October 21, 1965 WINONA DAILY NEWS Japanese Violinist to Perform At College of Saint Teresa "Sonata in Minor, No. 4," by Mozart will be the first violin solo presented by Miss Masuko Ushioda, 22, international exchange artist from Japan, Thursday at 8 p.m. College of Saint Teresa auditorium. While much of Mozart's prodigious musical output reflected gaiety and brightness, this sonata is quite somber in character. The first movement opens with a pathetic, almost tragic theme.

Following the second theme, there is the traditional development section based on the initial melody, a recapitulation, and a long concluding coda. The second movement is in trio form while the remainder of the work includes a minuet and is treated in the melodic and harmonic style that is associated with Mozart's musical genius. Chaconne, which is the final movement of the Partita in minor for unaccompanied violin, is probably the most famous work Mr.

The Rev. Harry P. Jewison received their vows. Sister Edeltriuds was organist and Sister Astrid, soloist. Altar boys were Patrick and Michael Flynn.

GIVEN IN marriage by her father, the bride wore the floorlength gown that her mother wore at. her wedding 21 years ago. It had a chapel train with two inserts of lace, high lace neckline, long sleeves, figuremolding bodice and modified dome skirt trimmed with lace. She wore a mantilla lace veil and carried three ball bouquets of white mums, pompons. and greens.

Miss Judy Shiek, Rochester, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Charlotte Ferrier, Dover, Mrs. Walter Ewald a Elgin, Miss Elizabeth Gillespie, Rosemount, and Miss Patricia Kruse, Rochester, bridesmaids. Miss Judy Radke, neapolis, was her personal attendant. They wore floor-length, empire style, olive green gowns with lace bodices, crepe skirts and matching olive green headpieces. They carried ball bouquets of yellow, gold and bronze pompons with moss green ribbons.

GEORGE Kanz was his brother's best man. His brothers, Stephen and Michael Kanz, were groomsmen. All are of Plainvew. Other groomsmen were Walter Ewald Elgin, and Mark Gilsderf, Rochester. Ushers were Gary Daniels, Eyota, and Larry Sprenger, Plainview.

(Special) St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church was the scene of the Oct. 23 wedding of Miss Katherine Kilmerna Caledonia, daughter of Mrs. William Kilmer, Lewiston, and Reuben Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Rudolph Schroeder, Caledonia. The Rev. Robert Kant performed the ceremony. Mrs. Arnold Kruckow was organist and Jean Klinski, soloist.

THE BRIDE'S personal attendant was Eunice Dahlberg. Mrs. Kenneth Oevering, Lewiston, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. The Misses Judy Klinski and Dorothy Kruse were bridesmaids. John Schroeder, brother of the groom, was best man; Ruben Burmester, Caledonia, and Ronald Hawley, Rochester, groomsmen, and Kenneth Schroeder, Caledonia, and Kenneth Oevering, Lewiston, ushers.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a long, with gown of sculptured brocade arched waistline. Her bouffant veil of silk illusion was fastened to a crown trimmed with pearls and crystals. She carried a prayer book centered with a green orchid and streamers of stephanotis. HER ATTENDANTS wore long, jade-green, satin gowns with fitted bodices and scoop necklines. They had matching crowns with silk Englsih veiling and carried cascade bouquets of white mums and lemon leaves, The bride's mother wore a beige tweed suit and the groom's mother a turquoise suit.

Both had corsages of Reports Given At OES Meeting in this form. A majestic melody in full chord is subjected to 31 variations. The music for "Sonata for Piano and violin," by Yuzo Tovama, was written in January 1964 and was premiered in Japan in February 1964 by Miss Hisako Tsuji with Miss Sonoka Tanaka as piano accompanist. This work is composed of three movements the first movement in allegro moderato; the second in presto scherzando, and the third in lento, ending with a brief allegro vivo. The first movement is written in a free sonata style.

"FOUR Preludes," by Shostakovich-Tziganov will be next on the program. Shostakovich wrote 24 preludes for piano when he was 24 years old. Tziganov arranged the third, tenth, 15th and 20th piece from the preludes for violin solo. This selection is contemporary violin music with melodies and uncomplicated construction. Prokofieff began composing "Sonata No.

1, for violin and piano, in 1938 but it was not completed until eight years later. Although some criticized it as a work too much preoccupied with technical formalism, it shows the contemporary sensitivities and bold and free lyricism of the author. "Valse Scherzo," the final number, was written by Peter Ilich Tschaikowsky in 1877. The composer's refined sensitivities pulsate through the entire piece with refreshing musical ideas and keen but graceful rhythmical feelings. 16 in St. Joseph's Cathedral, La Crosse. The Rt. Rev. Msgr.

J. F. Kundinger officiated Mrs. John Stanek was organist and Robert Higgins, La Crosse, soloist. MRS.

ROGER Fritz, Minneapolis, was matron of honor and Miss Sharon Garner, La Crosse, maid of honor. David Manke, brother of the groom, was best man and Paul Manke, groomsman. Both are of Bangor. LeRoy Young, gor, and Billy Hoskins, Hokah, ushered. Debbie Manke, Bangor, sister of the groom, was flower girl.

Edward Von Arx, Hokah, was ring bearer. THE BRIDE, given in marriage by' her father, wore a long gown of bouquet taffeta and lace with long sleeves and a sabrina neckline embroidered with sequins and pearls. The bouffant skirt had a redingote front with lace which swept into a chapel-length train with tiers of lace, edged with taffeta ruffles. Her bouffant veil of silk illusion was fastened to a pearl crown. She carried a cascade bouquet of red roses and white mums with ivy streamers.

Her attendants wore floorlength gowns of azalea chiffon over taffeta with scooped necklines and long sheer sleeves. The controlled skirts had highrise waistlines topped with bows at the backs. They wore matching flowered hats and carried white spider mums and pompons. The flower girl wore a floorlength gown of white soie trimmed in lace carBeau ried a miniature bridal bouquet of roses. AN AFTERNOON reception was held at Concordia Hall, La Crosse, and an evening reception at Barre Mills, Wis.

The children of Mr. Mrs. William Hoskins, Hokah, furnished the music. Following a honeymoon to Northern Minnesota and Michigan, the newlyweds will be at home on a farm near Bangor. The bride is a graduate of Loretto High Schhool, Caledonia, and Winona Secretarial School.

She has been employed as secretary to attorney R. E. Nietsch, La Crosse. Her husband is a graduate of West Salem High School and is engaged in farming. He is a sergeant with the Onalaska National Guard.

THE BRIDAL dinner was served at the Arnold Black residence, Onalaska, with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Manke as hosts. Prenuptial hostesses were the Mmes. Harold Schiltz, Robert Buege, Eugene Heintz, Leo Garner, James Schiveir, Conrad Nehls, David Manke, Sherman Mahlum, Marshall and Marlin Young, Ed Schmitz, Wilfred Berg, Elmer Schomberg, Earl Jackel, Clarence Strittmater, Paul, George and Francis Von Arx, and Donald Cavanaugh and the Misses thy Von Arx, Sharon Garner, Marce Mehren, Betty Baier, and Anna Harnisch.

Reports on visits to other chapters were given when Chapter 141, Order of Eastern Star met at the Masonic Temple Monday evening with Mrs. E. S. Moe, worthy matron, presiding. Mrs.

Herbert Schladinske reported on a visit to Rochester; Mr. Schladinske, St. Charles, and Mrs. Raymond Crouch, Chatfield. An invitation was read from Pickwick Chapter 191 to attend its Friendship Nite Nov.

5. Mrs. Merrill Holland reported on the area conference she attended. Other reports given were by Mrs. Moe, good cheer, and Mrs.

Irwin Leonhart, projects. On the refreshment committee were Mrs. Harry Teegarden, chairman, assisted by the Mmes. Lyle Morcomb and C. B.

Erwin and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Eastman. Next meeting will be Brother's Night. The OES will serve the Scottish Rite Reunion Banquet Thursday.
