liquor administrator said Wednesday the Montana liquor control board would act upon more than 200 completed applications for saloon licenses at its meeting here Thursday. Last week, the board approved approximately 200 licenses, which netted the state nearly $100,000 Wass said. Inspectors of the liquor board are now covering the state, checking all saloons licensed by the board, and establishments which have applied for licenses. ACTriESS HIES Helen Burgess Succumbs of Pneumonia at Hollywood. Hollywood, April 7. (U.f!) Helen Burgess, 18-year-old former Portland, high school girl who abandoned scholastic work for the movies, died at her home Wednesday night from lobar pneumonia. She had been ill only since last week when she was stricken with a severe cold.

Pneumonia developed and her condition became critical Wednesday. Miss Burgess had a brief, but successful, career in the movies. Without previous experience, she was chosen for a leading role in Cecil B. DeMille's "The Plainsmen," which starred Gary Cooper and Jean Arthur. She stepped from this picture into "Doctor's Diary," and from there went Into the cast of a "Night of Mystery," at Paramount studio.

She was working in this picture when taken ill. The young actress was married last January 27 to Herbert Rutherford, a piano teacher. They eloped to Yuma but the marriage was shortlived, ending in an annulment last month when she testified that her husband refused to live with her. maxed Saturday night by the Midland Empire's men's duplicate contract bridge tourney to be held at the Commercial club. A program in charge of Miss Martha Dewey, Instructor in English at the normal school, consisted of a vocal duet by Miss Edna Cook and Miss Franklyn Williams and a piano solo by Harold Loomis. (IP) The accreditlon of 11 western colleges and Junior colleges was recommended to the Northwest Association of Secondary High Schools by Dr. Frederick E. Bolton, Seattle, chairman of the ac-credition committee Wednesday. They include: The Intermountain Union college of Blllngs, and the Great Falls Junior college In Montana. The Northwest Nazarene college of Nampa, Idaho, was raised from Junior college status to a four-year college with permanent accreditlon.

HOLD PAIR IN ALLEGED Local Moose Reelect Mitchell Dictator At Meet Wednesday R. M. Mitchell was reelected dictator of Billings lodge No. 558, Loyal Order of Moose, at a regular meeting of the group in Odd Fellows hall Wednesday night. M.

F. Hamlett was named vice dictator; Ed Klipsteln, prelate; E. H. Stotts, treasurer, and Herman E. Kinkade, trustee for a three-year term.

Appointive officers will be named by Mitchell at the next meeting of the lodge. Final arrangements were made for sending about a dozen delegates from the local lodge to the Midland Empire legion No. 38, Legion of the Moose, spring frolic at Harlowton Saturday and Sunday. Program for the twenty-sixth anniversary observance of the local lodge April 21 was also tentatively arranged. Women of the Moose, women's auxiliary order, conducted memorial services for the departed members at the close of the session.

The alleged theft took place at the "Shorty" Burke farm, about 22 miles northeast of Billings, last Thursday or Friday, the officers said. Burke was absent from his farm on those days and on his return found the articles missing. The machinery parts were recovered by the officers at a local Junkyard Wednesday afternoon and the wool was found In Mook's home, they said.

Three Are Injured In Poison Accident Hold Big Horn Man On Drunk Driving Charge After Mishap H. W. Watt of Big Horn county, was arrested at Montana avenue and Twenty-seventh street at 11:05 p. m. and booked at police headquarters on a charge of drunken driving on complaint of a pair of Wisconsin tourists who claimed that Watt's automobile struck their machine and forced It into a ditch.

The tourists, Angelo Framelli, and Lester Krauf, said that the Car driven by Watt nearly struck several other autos on U. S. highway No. 10 east of the city. Their machine was forced Into the ditch and slightly damaged when hit by the Big Horn county man's car, they said.

Arrested by Sergt. P. H. Shultz and Patrolman W. W.

McKenzie, Watt was lodged in the city Jail and will appear in police court Thursday afternoon. Elected 14th Time. Poison, April 7. Three St. Ignatius residents were slightly Injured Wednesday when the car in which they were riding left the highway and rolled over a 300-foot cliff on the north side of the Flathead river, near the Poison dam site.

charging her with murder and concealing a body In connection with the death of an infant boy. The infant's body was found in a dormitory closet of an exclusive (Katherine Gibbs) school In the Back bay district. Twenty Moros, including noncombatants, have been killed in two days of guerilla warfare with Philippine commonwealth constabularymen on Mindanao Island, a dispatch to tho Manila Dally Bulletin from Dansalan said Wednesday. After surrounding a fort held by the Moros. the soldiers withdrew from the battleground after a prominent Moro chieftain promised the outlaws would surrender, the paper said. Eight constabularymen have been wounded in the fighting. The soldiers used mountain guns to blast the Moros out ot several forts and were preparing for an assault on another protected by barbed wire entanglements when the Moro chieftain Interceded.
