Tex (UPI) Although attorneys for Rep Greg Montoya, D-Elsa, insist they want to get the South Texas legislator's theft trial started quickly, they still plan to file a series of motions to delay the case and say there is national emergency that compels this case to be tned A pretnal hearing in the case was scheduled for Wednesday, but had to be delayed because Montoya's attorneys failed to get their defense motions filed before the start of the session think you ought to comply with the law and file your motions ahead of District Judge Mace B. Tex (UPI) Reps Kay Bailey and Don Henderson, both Houston Republicans, believe the state's recreation areas should be located where the most people can use them The two introduced bill Wednesday requiring the Parks and Wildlife Department to use two-thirds of its park development funds on sites near major cities Under the legislation, $50 million would have to be spent on acquisition, development, beautification and equipping of state parks located within 50 miles of cities of 300,000 or more population. The cities in that category are Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth. San Antonio and El Paso.

(UPI Photo) AUSTIN, Tex (UPI) The House considers a proposed constitutional amendment today to boost daily living expenses for lawmakers from $12 to $30, a pay measure that is moderately less expensive than one being considered in the Senate. The Senate Committee on Revision of the Texas Constitution approved a proposed constitutional amendment Wednesday raising the daily expenses to $36 and increasing travel allowances from 10 to 16 cents per mile. The House measure did not include the travel allowance increase Two-thirds of both houses mast agree on a measure next week in order for the amendment to go before voters in a special election ballot scheduled April 22. House Votes Block Oil Fee to Regional Group Meet Cancelled A Thursday night meeting in Denison of the juvenile justice committee of the Texoma Regional Planning commission has been postponed, it was announced in early afternoon The announcement said the meeting would be rescheduled for later in the month. Several from the Bonham area are members of the committee send the pay raise proposal to the voters in the same constitutional amendment. Texas AFL-CIO President Harry Hubbard told the Senate committee pay should be raised because a legislator in Texas has become a fulltime job.

"The President is encouraged. He thinks he has come a long way by the size of the vote and will contnue his talks with members of Congress." Nessen said The import fee was the first of a senes of steps Ford outlined in his State of the Union message Jan. 15 to cut consumption of foreign oil by raising the price to consumers It was one of the few steps in the speech he could take without first getting approval of Congress The first $1 per barrel of the fee went into effect Saturday but could be revoked by Congress The rest is scheduled in increments March 1 and April 1 The administration says the fee will raise retail gasoline prices several cents a gallon and will probably add two percentage points to the rate of inflation, now about 12 per cent. A temporary restraining order Tuesday was issued against the company and three of its officers to prohibit them from making allegedly deceptive claims about their opera tions. The defendants in the suit are the corporation, its president, Mrs G. Elizabeth Carmichael, and two of its officers, Samuel Schlisman and Leonard Katz District Judge Dee Brown Walker Wednesday denied a request by an attorney for the company to dissolve the suit. The three company officers and seven other persons were charged with conspiracy to commit theft over $10,000.
