12, Manufacturers and Lloyd's, the great insurance firm, counted up their losses from the abdication of Edward VIII nobody knew how many hundreds of thousands of Newspaper estimates of a 20,000,000 pound ($100,000,000) trade loss were called excessive in well- informed quarters, however. It was difficult to figure the Lloyd's loss, but one conservative estimate placed it at 100,000 pounds Since the coronation in all likell- rood will be held next May on schedule, but with new principals, the big losers were the makers of coronation mugs, plaques, silver spoons and the like with Edward's name or picture on them. Most of this material, already manufactured, won't be usable with King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to contend with. In addition, millions of- souvenir handkerchiefs and flags, bearing Edward's portrait, will be left on hand. Some of these products were insured against loss last August when the first business was placed to insure manufacturers against loss from a change in coronation plans; "the rate was around 15 per cent.

That jumped to 30 per cent until, a few days ago, all business stopped. However, it was pointed out that in many cases the damage will be negligible. Much insurance was taken out by contractors who had planned or begun to erect stands along the coronation route. Since there will be a coronation anyway, they wil! lose little or nothing. Similarly, hotels and shipping companies should not suffer to any great extent, financial observers held.

But when he saw those long, gray winds Of the queen racing around the room, he lost all his caution. He hopped into the air and caught one between his little white teeth. The wind howled, but Mister hung onto him.

Fniry Queen To The Rescue Of course, the other winds came to the rescue of their brother, and they tossed Mister high against the arched ceiling, and then out through the chimney into the cold; gray "Foo-oo, drop him hard on the ice," shouted the'wind-in'the lead. A survey by four government farm agencies recommended today a reduction in harvested crop lands of from 15,000,000 to 50,000,000 acres below the 1928-32 average.

Any attempt to expand farm cultivation to the acre average of those years, it said, "would result in a sharp de crease in agricultural income so as the level of domestic purchasing power and foreign demand does not exceed that which is probable in the next few years." Some increase in farm products hard hit by drought, however, was viewed as wise. Federal farm programs and droughts which reduced production in a period of industrial improvement, the survey saidj boosted gross farm income from SfvlOO.OOO.OOO in 1Q32 to an estimated $9,200,000,000 this year.
