WARREN COUNTY OBSERVER, TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, 1961 PAGE TWENTY-SEVEN Warren General Hospital ANNA RATHBURN Anna Rathbum, 77, wife of Howard Rathburn, retired Sugar Grpve postmaster, died Saturday evening at 11 in the Jamestown General hospital. She was born December 15, 1883, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Ristine, and had lived the past fifty-nine years in Sugar Grove.

In addition to her husband she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Grant, of Sugar Grove; three grandchildren, Martha Anne Sanders, of Sugar Grove, Peter A. Grant of San Francisco, and D. Tage Grant of Sugar Grove; a sister, Mrs. Maude E.

Tage, of Sugar Grove; and a brother John Ristine, of Arlington, Va. Funeral services will be held from the Schoonover Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, with interment in Wesleyan Cemetery of Sugar Grove. The Rev. Stuart Perrin, of the Gerard Presbyterian church, will conduct the services. CARL E.

SWANSON Carl Emil Swanson, 85, of 19 S. South retired carpenter, died Saturday, Sept, 2, 1961, about 7:30 p.m., following failing health for some time. Mr. Swanson was born in Sweden on January 29, 1876 and had resided in Jamestown for many years before coming to Warren to make his home only two years ago. He was a member of the First Covenant Church of Jamestown, where he served as a deacon, a Sunday School teacher and had sung in the church choir.

Surviving are his wife, Mae Hammar Swanson; a step-son, Eugene D. Nelson of Warren; three grandchildren, Donna, Daniel and Nancy Nelson of Warren; and several nieces and nephews. riends are being received at the Lind Funeral Home in Jamestown at the regular hours, and services will be held there this afternoon at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Paul W. Peterson, pastor of First Covenant Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery in Jamestown. HARVEY WILFORP BEATTY Harvey Wilford Beatty, 60, of Erie, a former Warren resident, died suddenly Monday morning, Sept. 4, 1961, at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, following a heart attack. Mr.

Beatty was bom in Yatesboro on May 24, 1901. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Mertie Bundy and Mrs. Helen Spatifore of Warren, Mrs. Phoebe Gray of New Bethlehem, and Mrs.

Mabel Bearfield of North Warren; two brothers, George Beatty of Brookville, R.r. 2, and Wallace Beatty of Warren; and a number of nieces and nephews. riends will be received at the Templeton Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p. m. Tuesday, and private services will be held there tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.

TRUBY Ella Mae Truby of Russell, R.D. 2 died suddenly Friday, Sept. 1, 1961 at 6:30 p. m. in Warren General Hospital, where she had been a patient for two days.

Mrs. Truby was born in Warren on April 20, 1898 and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of First Methodist Church in Russell. Surviving are her husband, Lyman L. Truby; two sons, John Berdine of Warren and Ray J.

Berdine of Russell; and a brother, Richard Mahaffey of Russell. A brother, Thomas Mahaffey, preceded her in death by two days. Friends are being received at the Peterson Funeral Home at the usual hours, and services will be held there this afternoon at 1:30 p. with the Rev. C.

C. Headlund officiating. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. MRS. W.

K. McCRAY Winnie Wheelock McCray of Spencer, W. died Sunday, Sept. 3, 1961 at 11 a. m.

at Spencer Hospital, where she had been a patient for a week. Mrs. McCray was bominLotts- ville February 28, 1884, the daughter of Col. PeForest and Sarah LeEll Wheelock. A former resident of Warren, she had lived in Spencer since 1907.

She was a member of Spencer Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, W. K. McCray; three daughters, Miss Jane McCray of Spencer, and Mrs. Martha Smith and Mrs.

Richard Thorn, both of Elizabeth, W. a brother, Harry Wheelock of Warren; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Carl Wheelock and Bertha Lyons. Funeral services are being held in Spencer today, after which the body will' be brought to WarrenT where friends may call at the Peterson Funeral Home from 10 to 12 Thursday. Private graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon in Oakland Cemetery, with the Rev.

Ralph Findley of Grace Methodist Church officiating. It is the request of the family that flowers be omitted. MRS. JOSEPHINE M. LARSEN Mrs.

Josephine Larsen, 72, of Akeley, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clyde J. Arthur of R.D. 1, Akeley, at 10:45 a.m. yesterday.

She was bom January 3, 1889, in Oil City, the daughter of the late Carmen and Hortense Slantz Mahaffey. She resided in Warren County since she was three years old and taught school in this area for 12 years. She also was employed by the Warren Times Mirror for several years. In 1913 she was married to Max William Larsen, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1955. A son, Curtis Maxwell Larson, also preceded her in death in 1927.

Mrs. Larsen was a member of the Akeley Methodist Church, the W.S.C.S. of that church, the Akeley Grange, and the Warren Golden Age Society. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elinor Cruse of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Mrs.

Romaine Arthur of Akeley; a son, Kenneth L. Larsen of Akeley; 11 grand children; three sisters, Mrs. Harriett Smith of Louisiana, Mrs. Grace Granquist of Akeley; Mrs. Helen Brasington of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; also, a number of nieces and nephews.

Services inMrs. memory will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow from the Blair Funeral Home in Frewsburg, N.Y., where friends may call between the hours of 2 and 10 p.m. today. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Frewsburg.

American Legion, bugler. Members of the firing squad included Fred Blair, Floyd Crocker, Tom Dorrion, Ed Muller, KenHennessy, Ernest Nollinger, Howard Thompson, Pat Valone, Anthony Vicini, Martin Winn, Marion Walker and Warren Engle. Members of the Post stood guard during visiting hours. Bearers for interment in Oakland Cemetery were James McGaw, Billie Williams, Frank Walker, Phillip A rrigo, Dalton Sayers and Lloyd Paul. McGaw presented the flag to Mrs.

Beverly Mesler Studer at the conclusion of the graveside rites. THOMAS EARL MAHAFFEY Services for Thomas Earl Mahaffey were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Peterson Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Allen officiating. Bearers for interment in Oakland Cemetery were Robert Miller, Fred Mahaffey, Willis Mead, Pete Wheaton, Ray Marti and Gene Pring.

HAROLD WAYNE SIMPSON Services for Harold Wayne Simpson were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Templeton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles B. Kinney, pastor of the First EUB Church officiating. Bearers for interment in Warren County Memorial Park were James Hathaway, Douglas Cromwell, J.

Snyder, R.L. Schumann, H. F. Froelick and B.E. Burroughs.

CLIFFORD S. KAMMER Services for Clifford Stanley Kammer were held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Templeton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bruce Ryan, vicar of the Warren County Episcopal Missions, officiating. Bearers for interment in Warren County Memorial Park were Carl Stranburg, Oscar Stranburg, Walter Kiser, Marvin Sliter, Edward Barney, and Ernest Eliberg.
