Tb esntaat which probably haa sav er been equalled (or spectacular scor ing in tb history of golf, was played over course three and four at tha Olympic Field Country club and waa watehed by soma 3,0 persons, who wr drenched la a heavy rain daring the laat flv hols. It 'waa only near tha close, after truggllng agalnat th Impossible for 2T hole that Mehlhora weakened per ceptibly under tha unmerciful and per-slatent attacks of th former British open champloa and lost hla cunning. Naturally to shoot such supar human golf Hagea had to bav aom break of luck. But even without thl as sistance he probably would have scored better thaa par aad likely would hava won for had not only captured an eagle 8 oa th first hoi which I 616 yard long, but bagged four birdie and ahot perfect par on all th other 36 hole. Mehlhorn had a few bad breaka and made a few poor ihots but also? hot an eagle on tHe 616 yard second hoi of th third eours in the afternoon, anared four birdie and was abovo par on only six hoi, playing; twnty perfectly.

IOBST Caura. Whit th par for both number 3 and number 4 course la 36 on ach nine th addition of only 22 yards on th first nln of number 4 would mak it only 3T, ao that Hagen In scoring 3 on thst quarter virtually had three eagles and Mehlhorn In taking na mora than 33 on the aam nine had an eagla and three birdies. The second nine of number 4 lacks only three yarda on the tenth and one yard on tha; 18th to hav a par of 37, and Hagen' In chalking up a 34 for thl quarur for a total of 66 virtually got three birdie while Mehlhorn with a slump in the middle of thl nln to all purposes got three birdies total 37 for 70. This remarkable ahootlng by Hagen netted him only on hoi on th first nln and two on tha aecond, making him thre up at th halfway mark. In the aam manner the flrat half of number 8 course lack only 41 yarda of having a par of 37' so that Hagen virtually got four birdies on that nln In ahootlng 38 and Mehlhorn'a 24 In reality got two birdie and an agle.
