"Lisa, Bright and "Lisa, Bright and Dark," a drama about a teen age girl who descends into mental illness, will open the 23rd consecutive season for the "Hallmark Hall of Fame" Wednesday, Nov. 28 (7.30 9:00 p.m.) on the NBC Television Network. The special stars Anne Baxter and John Forsythe, with Kay Lenz in the title role. It is based on John Neufeld's novel of the same name. It will be preceded by a rebroadcast of "Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day" p.m.) on this NBC-TV "Multi-Special Night." Miss Baxter and Forsythe appear as Margaret and William Schilling, well meaning parents of the troubled Lisa (Miss Lenz), who don't want to admit that anything is wrong with their daughter.

Portraying Lisa's concerned girlfriends are Anne Lockhart as Elizabeth Fraser, Jamie Smith Jackson as Betsy Goodman and Debralee Scott as Mary Nell Fickett. Rod McKuen wrote the words and music for the theme song of the special, "Miles to Go," which he sings. He also composed the background music for the show. Dr. Roy Menninger, President of the Menninger Foundation in Topeka, Kansas, is heard in some brief concluding remarks.

The drama begins as Lisa, an apparently happy go lucky teen-ager with everything going for her, offers a cheerful adieu for the day to her boyfriend, Brian Morris (Anson Williams). The next moment Lisa is in her room, becoming troubled and then more frightened and terrified as she studies herself in the mirror. Kneeling on her bed, she begins to rock back and forth, smashing her head repeatedly against the headboard. When her parents fail to see what is happening and Lisa's girlfriends start to understand, they try to help but find Lisa slipping dangerously out of reach. Tom Egan produced and Jeannot Szwarc directed this drama, adapted for television by Lionel E.
