(Sun Staff Photo By Monte Smith) NC Offers Early Admissions Program Navarro College is now accepting applications for the Early Admission Program for selective high school students to take courses this summer at the college. Students selected for the Early Admission Program must have completed their junior year in high school in order to take college courses in the summer preceeding their senior year. The program recognizes superior high school achievements and allows for excelleration of the educational plans. The program also allows for gradual transition from high school to college as well as the opportunity for the high school students to explore new areas. College credit will be granted to those students selected to the program after the student submits an official high school transcript showing he has graduated from an accredited high school.

Eligibility for the program is based on the following conditions: a student must have completed three-fourths of the work required for graduation from his high school; must furnish written approval and recommendation from his high school principal; and must furnish written approval from parent or guardian. Students who qualify may attend either or both summer sessions at Navarro and enroll in not more than two college credit courses each session. In addition he will be expected to adhere to all policies of the college. Credit earned in this program may not be used by students to satisfy high school graduation Ford Working At Fast Pace WASHINGTON (AP) Though President Nixon suggested last week his vice president may be working too hard, Gerald R. Ford is showing little sign of easing his busy pace.

Wallace and civil rights leader Ralph Abernathy, who stood on opposite sides during the civil rights struggles of the 1960s, stood together at Alabama State University to receive honorary law degrees. Brewer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Brewer, is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council for four years, and Key Club. He played football in the ninth grade, track in the 11th grade, and has played basketball for four years. He plans to attend Texas University.

Miss Mitchell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Andrews, is a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, Journalism Club performing Arts Club and Future Teachers Association. Accomplishments during her four years in the symphonic and marching band include three years as 4-A All Region; area all-region; first alternate in all state band and state solo and ensemble for four years. She plans to attend Baylor University and major in music.

CHS Students Honored by PTK Police Beat Corsicana High School students who are recipients of a 1974 Jim Collins Scholarship were honored Monday night by Phi Theta Kappa at Navarro College. A national honor society for community and junior colleges, Phi Theta Kappa members held an informal party to welcome the scholarship recipients to the college and honor them for their achievements. Following an informal hamburger meal, David McClure, president of PTK at Navarro, gave an informal speech about the activities of PTK and stressed the personalized attention that students receive at community colleges, pointing out that the community college bridges the gap of impersonal relationships found by many students on campuses of senior institutions. Walker, president of the college, welcomed the students to the campus and pointed out that Navarro is a student oriented college, while James Chapman, a co-sponsor of PTK, welcomed the group on behalf of the student body and faculty of the college and expressed that Navarro is success oriented as well as student oriented. The program concluded with the showing of a film produced by members of PTK at Navarro that won the National Art Award in competition with all PTK chapters throughout the nation. The Bonanza plan to bring three words to the lips of every father in America: Two business houses were checked out in the early morning hours of Thursday and late Wednesday for burglaries, but none had occurred, police reported. Melvin Byrd was dispatched to Bonanza Steak Pit to investigate a tip two men were acting suspiciously behind the restaurant. Byrd found two men there collecting waste grease drippings, Lewis Palos reported. Police kept under surveillance for the balance of the nighttime hours early today a house in the 2000 block of West Eleventh Ave. where a prowler complaint had been answered at 4:34 a.m. by Officer Pendergraph. Occupants reported hearing someone in their back yard, but no suspects could be located. Two juveniles, 12 and 15, suspended from Drane Middle School for fighting Wednesday, were brought to police headquarters by Officer Gus Jamison and turned over to their parents after the customary delinquency reports were prepared for the county juvenile bureau officer.

Nc accidents or thefts were reported Wednesday to police, Palos said today. Extensive damage resulted to a 1969 Opel which caught fire while being welded around the motor exhaust system in the Harwell Muffler Shop, 222 West Seventh at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, Main Station Commander B. G. Clay reported Thursday.

The customer car was reported to firemen as being owned by Elizabeth Carter, no address given. Clay said the shop itself sustained smoke damage from the blaze. A car fire reported at 2:04 p.m. involving a 1964 Oldsmobile at 1528 Woodlawn was a false alarm caused by steam from a loose radiator hose being mistaken for smoke from a fire. Western Singer Makes Apology SPOKANE, Wash.

(AP) Country-western singer Tom T. Hall returned to Spokane Wednesday to make a $5,000 apology for his song Motel Wearing western garb, the Nashville, recording artist told a reception that he sold 200,000 dopies of the song, written in a motel room Thanksgiving Day, 1972. Hall gave a benefit concert Wednesday, with proceeds going to the Sierra Club. Deputy Grady McCall is investigating a report from Bill Kendrick, owner of the Bait House in Raleigh, that the locks had been broken off of his gas pumps. McCall said an undetermined amount of gasoline was taken. Deputy Jim Hodge is investigating a report from Tom Bennett, Jr. of Corsicana that some steel drill fasteners, one and one-half inch square tubing and some wire mesh had been laken from his ranch near Chatfield. Bennett said the items were valued at $25.

H. Martin Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel for Howard Martin, 55, resident of Corsicana, who died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. Rev. Micky Loftis will officiate, and burial will be at Hamilton Cemetery.

He was a native of Groesbeck, had lived in Corsicana all his life, and was an employe of the Corsicana State Home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Martin of Corsicana; a son Garry Howard Martin of Corsicana; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Laverne Howell of Cedar Hill; three grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Belle Martin of Corsicana; two sisters, Mrs.
