office ot the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Grace Elizabeth Wiseman, 81, of Cotter A private graveside service will be held for Grace Elizabeth Wiseman of Cotter today at Burnt School House Cemetery at Lone Rock with the Rev. Sam Bailey officiating. Mrs.

Wiseman died Thursday (Jan. 8, 1998) at Cotter. She was 81. She was born Dec. 17, 1916, at Cartney to Herbert and Dessie McMahan Sease.

She married Delter D. Wiseman Dec. 9, 1939, at Twin Lakes Baptist Church. She was a homemaker. Formerly of Oklahoma, she had lived at Cotter since 1969.

She was a member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church where she was active in Bible study. She was also a Hospice volunteer. She is survived by her husband, Delter Wiseman; two sons, David Bruce Wiseman of Santa Crus, Calif, and Michael Wiseman of Fayetteville; three daughters, Linda Mcintosh of Cotter, Patricia Stuedemann of Athens, Ga. and Cindy Pierce of Cotter; two brothers, David Sease of Soccord, N.M. and Victor Sease of Ojha, one sister, Effie Porter of Cotter; 10 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bill Sease. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral Directors. Kirby and Family, and the U.S. Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree as a living memorial and tribute to Mrs. Wiseman.

Cortland Pell Auser, 78, of Mountain Home Cortland Pell Auser, 78, of Mountain Home died Thursday (Jan. 8, 1998) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 18, 1919 in Bristol, Pa. to Purdy and Constance Auser.

He married the former Doris Pengel in 1942. He earned a BA, MA and Ph.D. and taught college level English courses for over 50 years. He developed and taught several ethnic studies courses. He initiated one of the first black studies courses and developed Haitian, Jamaican and other ethnic literature courses.

He served in the U.S. Army air Corps and the U.S. Air Force and taught in the English Department at the U.S. Air force Academy until retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1966. He taught at the City College of New York and Bronx Community College in New York until retiring in 1988.

Dr. Auser was ainterested in history and served as town historian for several years in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. He moved to Mountain Home in 1996. He is survived by his wife, Doris Auser of New York; three daughters, Alice McGinnis of Captree Island, N.Y., Diane Stefan and husband, Joe, of Mountain Home and Pyllis Menzenski and husband, Paul, of Pleasant Valley, N.Y.; one son, Kenneth Auser and wife, Dianne, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, Dawn Stefan Phillips and husband, Scott, and Amy Stefan, all of North Carolina, Alyson Auser of Colorado, Meagan Auser of New York, Bernadette and Heather Bruce of Tennessee, Erin and Siob-han Bruce of New York, Christopher and Meredith Menzenski of New York and Larry Boyer; and three great-grandchildren Allison and Alec Phillips of North Carolina and Justyn Boyer of Oregon. Arrangements and burial will be by Clark's Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights, N.Y.

Local information was provided by Kirby Funeral Home. Nadine J. Buckner, 54, of Mountain Home Funeral Mass for Nadine J. Buckner of Mountain Home will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St.

Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with the Rev. Stan Swiderski as celebrant. Mrs. Buckner died Thursday (Jan. 8, 1998) at Baxter County Regional Hospital.

She was 54. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today ata Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary-vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home with the Rev.

Gregory Hart officiating. Burial will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John C. Barnes III, Tommy Weindruch, James Crownover, Lee Hutson, Brandon Hampton and Nathan Chesney. Mrs.

Buckner was born April 2, 1943, at Chicago to Stanley Donald and Lillian Catherine Ciesielski Popek. She married William H. Buckner on Feb. 14, 1974, at Mountain Home. She worked as an attendant for Elder Care.

Formerly of Hickory Hills, 111., she had lived at Mountain Home since 1970. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, and Mount Assissi High School Alumni Association of Lemont, 111. She is survived by her husband, William H. Buckner of the home; her mother, Lillian C.

Popek of Mountain Home; one son, Donald Buckner of the home; one daughter, Christina Buckner of Mountain Home; one brother, Jay Popek of Cicero, one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her father. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home. 3 William J. Adkins services Services for William J.

Adkins of Gassville will be at 1 p.m. today at Kirby Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Art Seter officiating. Mr. Adkins died Monday (Jan. 5, 1998) at Baxter County Regional Hospital.

He was 72. Burial will be at Kirby 's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the North Central Arkansas Veterans Council and Alley-White Post 52 serving as honor guard. He is survived by his wife, Frances Adkins of the home; two daughters, Donna L. Adkins of Springfield, and Sandra J. Grif-fen of Swainsboro, two brothers, Lloyd J.

Adkins of Eufaula, and Don Ayers of Cottonwood Falls, a sister, Carol Cahoone of Strong City, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leo and Nellie Grace Mitchell Adkins. Memorials may be made to Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital. Kirby and Family and the U.S. Forest Service have provided for the planting of a tree as a living memorial and tribute to Mr.

Adkins. Robert L. Bales, 69, of Mountain Home A liturgy of Christain burial for Robert L. Bales of Mountain Home will be at 11 a.m. today at St.

Andrew's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Anne Carriere as celebrant. Mr. Bales died Wednesday (Jan. 7, 1998) at Baxter County Regional Hospital.

He was 69. A private family graveside service will be held at Baxter Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Fred Hardt, Bert Richard, Roger Schweger, Glenn Bales, Bill Nordbye and Fred Lakes. He is survived by his wife, Patricia R. Bales of the home; his mother, Nellie Bales of Mountain Home; one brother, Glenn Bales of Colorado Springs, one sister, Diane Edwards of Mountain Home; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Bales. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home. Marce E.

Hall visitation, services Services for Marce E. Hall of Mountain Home will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Swiderski officiating. Mr.

Hall died Tuesday (Jan. 6, 1998) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. He was 93. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

He was 89. He is survived by his wife, Josephine I. Hetu of Mountain Home; one son, John V. Hetu Jr. of Crystal Lake, one daughter, Barbara A.

Chirillo of Chicago; one sister, Ann R. Lindquist of Mountain Home; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Perrier Hetu; his first wife, Florence Schow Hetu; a son, Barry Hetu; and two sisters. Memorials may be made to Catholic Extension Society, Salesian Missions. Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral Directors.

Monday at Abingdon Cemetery, Abingdon, 111. with the Rev. Gene Ramsey officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Roller Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grinnell died Wednesday (Jan. 7, 1998) at Baxter County Regional Hospital. She was 90. She was born March 7, 1907, at Berwick, 111.

to William Samuel and Eva Grace Perrin Ingram. She married William Grinnell Oct. 29, 1932, at Galva, 111. and was a homemaker. Formerly of Chicago, she had lived at Mountain Home since 1967.

She enjoyed singing, dancing and traveling. She is survived by her husband, William Grinnell of Mountain Home; one sister, Clara Jane Carlson of Mountain Home; two cousins and two nieces.
